Dermatitis

Also called eczema

Inflammation of the skin characterized by itchy erythematous crusty patches

Diagnosis: based on history, clinical exam and a skin biopsy (in difficult cases)

Treatment: Corticosteroids, topical emollients, antihistamines, immunosuppressants, ultraviolet light therapy

repeated pressure, shear and/or friction applied to the skin
