Implementing ADDIE Model in Way-finding and Signage System

This month article will be our last article in the ADDIE series.
Following up from the two
'Ds', design and development, the last letter will be I and E.
These I and E stands-for
Implementation and Evaluation.
Certainly after all the hard work from mapping, finding
objectives, designing and
developing the signage to meet client's need and requirements,
implementing those
designs are the pinnacle of the work for us signage
practitioners. After all what good is a
signage if people cannot see and appreciate its use by taking
information or direction
from it. Implementation (or should we say Installation) can be
defined as one of these
following two:
1. The act of accomplishing some aim or executing some order
2. The act of providing a practical means for accomplishing
something and or carryinginto effect
In short, implementation is the stage to install and carrying
the signage design into effect.
The result or outcome that follows the signage installation will
then be the subject for
evaluation. Evaluation is another important process in assuring
the quality and the
effectiveness of signage design answering the needs for it. It
is during this stage of
evaluation that clients and designer will see and decide how
well the signage design and
installation par with customers' expectation. Does it help them
to get the information that
they needed and more importantly how effective the signage
convey the message and
information.
Even though ADDIE is a model develops for instructional and
training, its application with
certain adjustment can be adapted to many other fields. We hope
that you will have the
opportunity to better planned, better design, and better
implement your signage needs.
