Think COMPOSITE

STANDARD PROFILES available from STOCK

Standard shape profiles represent an important part of the Top Glass product line. The best selling sections are always kept in stock to ensure swift fulfilment of customer’s orders. They can eventually modified in terms of matrix and reinforcements to assure you always the best tailored composite solution.

STRUCTURAL PROFILES

TRIGLASS ® structural fibreglass profiles are mainly used individually as simple beams or in interconnected configurations to create load bearing structures: in both cases their function is structural and they are able to support very high loads.Renewal, oil & gas, chemical and earthquake resistant structure are few of the main applications of these profiles.

TAPERED and CYLINDRICAL POLES

Fibreglass poles can withstand heavy mechanical loadings and the harshest environmental conditions. In tapered or cylindrical geometry, they are suitable for a wide variety of applications like general lighting, traffic light poles, sign posts, urban fixtures, electrical power transmission poles, telephone poles, flagpoles, advertising poles, and protective fencing poles.

THERMOPLASTIC PROFILES

Fulcrum ® Thermoplastic Composite Products are produced with a proprietary rigid engineering thermoplastic polyurethane matrix. The combination of ductile thermoplastic matrix with high strength continuous fibres results in excellent strength and stiffness combined with superior toughness. Our unique process also allows a thin surface coating for a smoother more durable finish.

CUSTOMIZED PROFILES

A broad range of customized profiles built to customer specifications. Large and small, thin and thick, simple and complex forms, reinforced with fibreglass or carbon fibre: Top Glass has been creating an extensive range of pultruded profiles to meet the needs of engineers and designers who have learned about the endless possibilities of pultrusion and been impressed by our solutions.

OURCOMPANY

This process allows for COMPOSITE PROFILES with LINEAR, CONSTANT SECTION, with no limits in LENGTH.STANDARD shapes or CUSTOMIZED solutions, with any dimension from 1 mm up to 1,5 meters in width. The pultrusion process is particularly suitable, both technologically and economically, for large scale or serial production.

With this technology Top Glass produces TAPERED POLES up to 13,6 meters long. They find a wide range of applications like UTILITY, AERIAL LINES, ELECTRICAL POWER TRANSMISSION and LIGHTING.

PULTRUSION

FULCRUM ® profiles are producedusing a thermoplastic polyurethane matrix. The combination of ductile thermoplastic matrix with high strength continuous fibres results in excellent strength and stiffness combined with superior toughness.

The PULLWINDING process is the right solution to produce TUBULAR section profiles reinforced with OFF_AXIS FIBRES for SUPERIOR RIGIDITY in both AXIAL and TRANSVERSE directions, for maximum STIFFNESS and STRENGTH.

THERMOSET PULTRUSIONCOMPOSITE are made with no less than two different materials:

Due to their intrinsic physical properties (CHEMICAL and CORROSION resistance, THERMAL and ELECTRICAL insulation) our COMPOSITE PROFILES are increasingly used instead of aluminum, steel, wood and pvc.Their LIGHT WEIGHT and HIGH STRENGTH make them the only solution in many applications. Our in-house KNOW-HOW (all the production machines are internally designed and made, as well the chemistry of each profile) and experience in DESIGN and CUSTOMIZATION make Top Glass a RELIABLE PARTNER for all the customers.

• REINFORCEMENT (the FIBRE) defines the mechanical behaviour of the profile, such as strength and stiffness. Most typical reinforcements used are GLASS, CARBON, NATURAL and SYNTHETIC fibres: the combination allows to meet the most onerous property requirements.

• MATRIX (the RESIN) binds the reinforcement together, and determines properties such as corrosion resistance, electrical insulation, fire and temperature resistance.According requirements, the matrix can be POLYESTER, VINYLESTER, EPOXY or ACRYLIC.

CERTIFICATIONS

FOR MORE THAN 25 YEARS Top Glass has been deeply committed to developing solutions to the RECYCLING ISSUE of composite materials: our company has PATENTED (NR. 6623575) a method to manufacture a product using recycled material without decreasing mechanical performance. The advantages coming from Top Glass patent include also REDUCING CO2 EMISSIONS and eco-footprint, according to the recent suggestions of the European Composite Industry Association (EUCIA). In order to meet the latest requests coming from the energy saving/recovery regulations, Top Glass has carried out an LCA (LIFE CYCLE ASSESSMENT) study as a synergistic element of the recycling question and has been supported in this work by Milan Polytechnic University.
