Welcome to the 2014 SkillsUSA Washington State Leadership and Skills Championships. On behalf of National Headquarters I congratulate you on making it this far. SkillsUSA has the most dedicated and committed students in the country. We are part of an organization where we can all be united.

Whether this is your first or potentially your last time at state, I challenge you to make it your best. It is not about the competitions. Rather it is about the connections you can make. Take some time away from your phone to engage with those around you. Go to some of the social events and talk with others outside your chapter. Experience new things. This is your chance to have fun while developing vital skills for the future.

No matter the results I know Washington will be well represented in Kansas City! We have some of the best talent right here. Remember to have a great conference, connect with others and to soar with your strengths!

Good luck and best wishes for your success.

A Little Consideration!

SkillsUSA Emblem

During the Closing Session and Awards Ceremony please remain seated until theclosing gavel has sounded. We want all of our SkillsUSA Washington winners to have the recognition they have earned and deserve.

Dignitaries will be joining us at our Closing and Awards Ceremony. Leaving earlywhile others are still being recognized makes a bad impression and demonstrateslittle regard for tohers. Demonstrate we care about our professional organization, ourselves, and others!

We must celebrate every success!

The SHIELD represents Patriotism The shield denotes belief in democracy, liberty , and the American way of life.

The TORCH represents Knowledge The flaming torch reflects the light of knowledge, which dispells the darkness of ignorance. In the light of the torch progress will be made toward the vocational goals of the individual.

The ORBITAL CIRCLES represents Technology The circles represent the challenge of modern technology and the training needed to accept and master the challenge of new technical frontiers and the need to continuous education.

The GEAR represents the Industrial Society The gear, symbolic of the industrial society, denotes the interdependence and cooperation of the individual working together with labor and management for the betterment of mankind.

The HANDS represent the Individual The hands portray a search for knowledge and the desire to acquire a skill. In the process of attaining knowledge and skill, the individual will develop a respect for the dignity of work and become a productive and responsible citizen.
