Cultural Programs

Visit one of Tokyo’s must-see destinations, the world’s tallest free standing broadcasting tower. The 300-odd shops and restaurants at the foot of the tower collectively known as Tokyo Solamachi strive to embrace new trends but at the same time, capture the feeling of this area of Tokyo from days of yore.

Meiji Jingu Shrine is a Shinto shrine, dedicated to Emperor Meiji and his wife Empress Shoken, established in 1920. Over 100,000 trees were donated by people all over Japan at the time of the shrine's establishment, creating an expanse of forest and garden that can be seen today. Meiji Jingu Shrine is also in important place for Japanese people to honor life events, such as births, weddings and New Year’s celebrations.

A half-hour boat cruise down the Sumida River traveling under some 14 bridges spanning Tokyo’s main river, passing the capital’s famous landmarks along the way. The cruise will arrive at the majestic Hama-rikyu Gardens.

Edo-Tokyo Museum introduces the history and culture of Edo (the ancient name for Tokyo). After enjoying a stroll, the next stop is Sensoji Temple at Asakusa. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Tokyo; a stunning Buddhist temple built in the 7th century.

The calligraphy teacher writes an example and participants copy their own favorite characters. Participants can take their own works home.

Choose one of three famous works by Katsushika Hokusai and recreate it in a three color printing process.

Woodblock Printing

A one-hour program where participants can try their hand at origami paper craft.An origami instructor explains about the world of origami and how to make origami for beginners.
