Now you can look forward to easier international shipping. We’ve enhanced our International Traffic in Arms Regulations* (ITAR) shipment handling processes to better align with ITAR regulations. The lanes embargoed for handling ITAR shipments are now open. Now that’s simpler international shipping.The following embargoed lanes are now open, thanks to the FedEx ITAR shipment handling enhancements:

• Americas to Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Philippines and Indonesia

• Europe, Middle East and India to/from Asia

How it helps youFedEx is committed to opening markets and providing unequaled access to your customers, as well as a consistent, easy-to-use, and fast international shipping experience for ITAR shipments. The system upgrades will ensure ITAR shipments are not routed through China and will reduce customs issues, shipment delays, and associated fines/penalties, all with minimal disruptions to accessible markets for ITAR shipments.

* International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) is a set of United States Government regulations that control the export and import of defense-related articles and services on the United States Munitions List. Its goal is to safeguard U.S. national security and to further U.S. foreign policy objectives.

Why it’s betterAs you might be aware, ITAR-controlled commodities cannot enter or transit through China, where the FedEx Asia-Pacific region hub is located. So FedEx is updating our electronic shipping platforms to open embargoed lanes, and to ensure your ITAR shipments are not routed through China and are properly handled. Please look for your FedEx Customer Integration Consultant and/or account representative to contact you within the coming weeks with more exciting news regarding ITAR shipment handling enhancements.

Transition to the FedEx Electronic Shipping Platform

You will need to take the following actions once the upgrades become available:1. Upgrade your electronic shipping

platform to utilize ITAR functionality. If you are not able to upgrade your platform at this time, ITAR enhancements are now available at fedex.com.

Software upgrades containing the ITAR enhancements are now available for all platforms.

2. Once your electronic shipping platform is upgraded, you will need to identify your ITAR shipment to FedEx by selecting an appropriate check box under special service option. Remember, when processing ITAR shipments:• US /PR origin customers must

choose ITAR (Exempt) or the FICE special service option.

• Non US / PR origin customers must choose ITAR (Controlled) special service option.

3. Ensure all ITAR-controlled commodity shipments for open lanes are processed using your upgraded FedEx electronic shipping platform. This enhanced functionality is not available with paper air waybills.

4. Process all ITAR-controlled commodity shipments using FedEx International Priority® or FedEx International Priority® Freight services.

NOTE: U.S. Origin FedEx International Controlled Export (FICE) customers: Please continue following your usual process.
