    LINER SYSTEMS

  • Liners run in Iran over last 2 years43 Liners run in total.

    23 Liners in 7 size.

    20 Liners in 5 size

    28 percent of regional total

  • Liner PurposeReduce costs associated with completion by reducing the amount of casing required to complete the well.Case off open hole more rapidly.Completes wells with less weight landed on wellhead.Provides improved cement jobs.Provide good well control while drilling and completing.Allows for deeper wells.Prevents casing from buckling from its own weight if set on bottom.

  • Types of LinersDrilling: Used primarily to permit deeper drilling operations. In most cases it extends downward into the open hole and overlaps the existing liner 200 to 400 feet.Production: A liner set through the production zone.Stub: A section of casing extending from the top of an existing liner to a point up the hole in another string of casing. Stub liners save the amount of casing used as they are not run back to the surface.Tie-back: A section of casing extending upward from the top of an existing liner to the surface. Tie-back liners are normally cemented in place.Scab: A section of casing used to repair existing damaged casing. It may be cemented in placed or sealed top and bottom using packers.

  • Inspection of CasingPurpose: To determine if flaws exist in the casing such as manufacturing defects, handling damage, or stress concentration cracks.Types: Magnetic particle inspection (MPI), electromagnetic inspection, ultrasonic inspection or hydrostatic pressure testing.

  • Hole Preparation The hole must provide enough clearance to assure that the casing and couplings can be lowered freely into the well; the drilling fluid should be in a condition to permit free circulation around the casing; and the hole should be in a suitable condition so the casing cement job can be done.

  • Hole Preparation Typical open hole to liner dimensions

  • Liner HangersLiner Hangers provide a means of suspending or hanging the weight of the liner somewhere below the surface; thereby acting as a tensile unit. Liner Hangers provide the ability to affect a pressure-tight connection between the liner and other completion components integral to the liner hanger system, thereby acting as a pressure vessel. Liner Hangers allow for circulation and cementation of a suspended liner. Liner hangers can be used as a well completion component

  • Accessory EquipmentFeatures:Used with inner string tools to provide the pressure seat to permit activation of one or more pressure actuated components. Incorporates a ball seat shear pinned to provide the required shear pressure. After all hydraulic components have been actuated, increased pressure against the ball seat shears the seat pins and circulation is regained. After actuation, fluid and pressure exits BCS to the annulus. After actuation, flow is no longer possible through the I.D. below the BCS ball seat.Cannot pump plugs through an actuated BCS.Use of the BCS prevents pulling a wet string thus saving drilling fluids and rig time.
