Come up with as many adverbs as you can.
Use them in sentences to describe the weather.
Complete the task sheet.
One fine day when the sun was shining way up in the sky, a pair of hares came hopping by. Watching them from behind a fir tree was an enormous grizzly bear. He had been keeping an eye on them for about a week from his cave in the hills. Now here was his chance for a pieceof succulent hare pie for tea.
He crept from his hiding place and charged at the hares. They took totheir heels and ran for the main road. Luckily a passing van stopped and gave the hares a lift and saved their skins.

"Cherry lips, crystal skies
I can show you incredible things
Stolen kisses, pretty lies
You're the king, baby, I'm your queen"
"Screaming, crying, perfect storm
I can make all the tables turn
Rose gardens filled with thorns
Keep you second guessing“
Taylor Swift

"He clasps the crag with crooked hands;
Close to the sun in lonely lands,
Ring'd with the azure world, he stands.
The wrinkled sea beneath him crawls;
He watches from his mountain walls,
And like a thunderbolt he falls.“
Alfred Tennyson
Nouns Adjectives Verbs Pronouns
"The idiosyncrasy of this town is smoke. It rolls
sullenly in slow folds from the great chimneys of
the iron-foundries, and settles down in black,
slimy pools on the muddy streets. Smoke on
the wharves, smoke on the dingy boats, on the
yellow river--clinging in a coating of greasy soot
to the house-front, the two faded poplars, the
faces of the passers-by.“

You are on a Caribbean cruise. The weather is amazing, the food is
fantastic and your tan is looking good. However, disaster strikes. The
cruise ship is leaking and the engine has been destroyed. As the ship
starts to sink, you see a small island about half a mile away. You have
one minute to grab three items that will help you survive on the island.
You must grab the items before the last remaining life boat leaves.
What will you grab? Remember! The items must come from the ship
so I doubt that there will be a huge machete for cutting down trees…
Pair
Discuss your ideas with your partner. Do you have similar thoughts? If
so, why have you chosen these items?
Share
Turn to the pair behind/in front of you and come up with a list of
reasons why you have chosen the items you have chosen.
Fast finishers: Did you all agree on similar items?
Why do you think this is?
Imagine you have won a competition to go on a survival course in the jungle.
You have been given the following essential items:
• water
• food
• a 2-way radio
• a compass
• a medical kit
You can take three more items.
Your task is to explain to the judges why you would choose these three items.
Remember you must be able to carry them.
