Every major key shares the same notes with a minor key, and vice-versa. This is called “Relative Keys”. The relative minor for C major is A minor. So you get 2 keys for the price of learning 1 pattern! The difference is HOW you play the pattern and which notes you target. Learn the patter, then move on target notes and chord tones afterwards.
The chart is seen as if you are holding your guitar and looking down at it. See diagram below:
Like the chart above, your perspective is like you are looking down at the guitar. The numbers are your frets, sothe first 3 means hit the 3rd fret on your E (Bass) string. The letters at the bottom represents what finger to use:
