  • IntroductionWelcome to Step by Step TOEIC Bridge! This series is designed to help

beginning and intermediate students develop their listening, grammar, andreading skills. Through practice of activities and problems modeled on the TOEICBridge Test, students can become better test takers while developing basiccomprehension and communication skills in English.

The thematically organized, graded units within the series follow a three-stepformat: Warm-up, Exercise, and Test.

Warm-upEach unit begins with target vocabulary, a section which introduces key

words found within the unit. This warm-up vocabulary section is then followedby the question-type preview and practice sections. In these sections, multipleexamples of common question types are presented and applied. These sectionsalso incorporate the target vocabulary, developing both word and questionrecognition for common phrases and structures found on the TOEIC Bridge Test.

ExerciseAfter working through the Warm-up activities, students move on to a

simplified practice test in the Exercise section of the unit. The limited number ofanswer choices in these activities provides students with the opportunity tobecome acquainted with the test question format while keeping the activityaccessible to beginning and intermediate students.

TestIn the final section of each unit, students have the opportunity to practice

TOEIC Bridge-type questions, which follow the same format as thoseencountered on the actual test. Because all questions in this section of the bookfollow the theme presented in the unit, students will repeatedly encountervocabulary from earlier parts of the unit, reinforcing vocabulary acquisition andcomprehension.

Vocabulary is a critical factor in language development. With this in mind,Step by Step TOEIC Bridge has been designed to help students build a solidfoundation of basic vocabulary. Each unit introduces a limited number of newwords while recycling vocabulary from earlier units in a variety of contexts acrossthe diverse themes presented within the series.

Step by Step TOEIC Bridge can help students smoothly progress from theTOEIC Bridge Test to the TOEIC Test through strategic and organized practice ata comfortable level.
