A comparison essay notes either similarities, or similarities and differences.
Point-By-Point Method
Introduction
Introduction of general topic: Lead into your essay by discussing a general topic that is relevant
to both pieces of literature. (1-2 sentences)
Specific topic: Identify both pieces and how they relate to the topic. (1-2 sentences)
Thesis: Present your thesis, which reflects the point of your essay. Use the following frame:

Topic sentence: This sentence should focus on one aspect of comparison about the two pieces.
Topic 1: Focus on how one of the pieces connects to this aspect, and support it with textual

evidence (at least two details).
Body2
Topic sentence: This sentence should focus on another aspect of comparison about the two
pieces.

Conclusion
Summary of main points: Briefly remind reader of the aspects on which you focused.
Evaluation and significance: Discuss how the ideas presented in the pieces connect to life.
