COMPARE AND CONTRAST?

Comparison and contrast papers point out the differences and similarities that exist between two or more texts to highlight and achieve a better understanding of the literary element under scrutiny.

WHAT ARE WE SUPPOSED TO DO?

With this in mind, you will be in charge of producing a written text that uses comparison and contrast techniques as a way of allowing the reader to view a particular literary element in a new light.

DEVELOP A COMPARISON AND CONTRAST PAPER BY:

Compare and contrast a fairytale and a short story, making sure to focus on a particular literary element (i.e. character, symbolism, setting, meaning, ideology, language, tone, speaker, themes, symbols etc.)

Any claim made in the paper must be supported by textual evidence found within fairytales and/or short stories of your choice. In other words, your analysis must be based solely on the texts that you chose.

FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS After selecting the texts that you want to analyze, you will write a comparison and contrast paper consisting of 500 words or more. It is required that you use one secondary source. The paper must incorporate at least two quotes from EACH text discussed in your paper (for a total of 4 quotes) and a quote from the secondary source as evidence to highlight the comparisons and contrasts made in your paper.
