COMPARATIVES

En inglés el comparativo de superioridad se forma de 2 maneras:
1.- Añadiendo –er al adjetivo y después la palabra “than”:
Ejemplos: short -------- shorter than (más corto que)
tall ----------- taller than (más alto que)
2.- Usando more + adjetivo + than:Ejemplos: more beautiful than (más bello/a que)
more intelligent than (más inteligente que)

Los adjetivos de 1 sílaba forman el comparativo añadiendo al adjetivo –er than:
Examples: old --------- older than (más viejo que)
new -------- newer than (más nuevo que)
dark -------- darker than (más oscuro que)
La mayoría de los adjetivos de 2 sílabas y todos los de 3 o más sílabas forman el comparativo usando more + adjetivo + than:
Examples: boring --------- more boring than (más aburrido que)
interesting ---- more interesting than (+ interesante que)

Los adjetivos de 2 sílabas que acaban en –er, -y, -le y –ow forman el comparativo añadiendo –er than al final del adjetivo:
Examples: clever ------------ cleverer than (más listo que)
happy ------------ happier than(más feliz que)
narrow ----------- narrower than(más estrecho que)

Algunos adjetivos construyen su comparativo de una forma irregular:
Examples: good ------------ better than
(bueno ----------- mejor que)
bad -------------- worse than(malo -------------- peor que)
