Welcome to our pre-ASTRO 2015 update, detailing the changes and highlights of the company and our products over the past 12 months.

Vision RT has undergone a period of significant expansion in the last year, with our customer base growing across the world, more dedicated services for our international customers, and another highly successful User Meeting. As we see our systems being successfully used for a wide range of treatment sites alongside some of the most cutting edge techniques in modern radiotherapy, our vision of becoming standard of care in motion management is being realised.

In this update you can read about these developments. We are also delighted to have just been awarded the Technology Innovation of

the Year Award at the 2015 UK Private Business Awards, yet another public endorsement of our innovative solutions.

At ASTRO this year we have a range of exciting developments and new offerings to present, which you can learn more about in this update. We look forward to seeing current customers and new faces at our booth (671).

TECHNOLOGY INNOVATIONOF THE YEAR

Vision RT wins Technology Innovation of the Year Award at the 2015 UK Private Business Awards

Vision RT was awarded the Technology Innovation of the Year Award at the 2015 UK Private Business Awards ceremony on September 30th.

The judging panel selected Vision RT from over 2,000 nominations for this prestigious award, which is a fantastic endorsement of our technology. The panel determined that our technology best met the criteria for “an innovative and transformational idea which has beaten the competition and displayed creative thinking”.

Vision RT have sold over 500 systems to date worldwide.

Building on Vision RT’s significant successes in the USA, the world’s largest radiation therapy market, this year we have additionally focused on expanding our rest-of-world presence in EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa), APAC (Asia-Pacific) and the Americas.

In March 2015, we appointed Henrik Andersen as Vice President Sales, EMEA and APAC. Since then, the international team has grown significantly with full time sales and support staff hired in Germany, Scandinavia and the UK.

We received clearance from Health Canada in July, which allows AlignRT®, GateCT® and GateRT® products to be marketed as Class III medical devices in Canada. We have also received approvals in Taiwan and Egypt. Additional clearances for other territories are pending.

As well as the recent establishment of direct sales operations in Germany, Scandinavia and the UK, during the past 12 months we have expanded our distribution network to include Eastern European and Baltic regions, Colombia (South America), Turkey, Taiwan and Thailand. New distributors have also been appointed in Benelux and Japan.

To support our growth, in April 2015 Vision RT opened a European user training centre as part of our newly expanded headquarters in North London. The new facility enables Vision RT to provide therapists and physicists from across Europe and beyond hands-on training with our products.

The UK centre adopts the very successful training programme developed at our North American centre in Columbia, Maryland; during the three-phase programme, users learn how to use purchased system(s) in an ‘as-live’ environment without interruption, as well as participating in additional online training.

Vision RT’s systems are present in 36 of the top 50 cancer centres in the US, as cited by the U.S. News Best Hospitals for Cancer 2015-16 rankings.

In April and July this year we showcased our motion management solutions at ESTRO in Barcelona, Spain, and AAPM in Anaheim, CA, respectively. ASTRO 2015 is expected to be our biggest exhibition yet, with numerous presentations and new products on show on a newly designed and expanded booth. In addition to its established, routine use in standard radiation therapy, AlignRT® is now being increasingly used for proton therapy treatment of patients. AlignRT® has been successfully used at a number of proton centres, including Massachusetts General Hospital, which was the first proton therapy facility in which we installed AlignRT®. In September, the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, introduced the use of AlignRT® to its new proton therapy suite, where a new gating interface to their Hitachi delivery system has been developed and tested.

In July, Vision RT appointed Parth Amin as Vice President, Strategic Alliances as an integral part of our continued international growth plans. Parth joins Vision RT after working at Varian, Omnicell and Siemens in alliance management related roles; his appointment will help to strengthen our current relationships and create new strategic alliances.

Alongside our sales and marketing expansion plans, Vision RT continues to invest in R&D. We have developed a number of new capabilities for our products, some of which will be presented for the first time at ASTRO. These include the patient feedback device, the remote control, an interface to Elekta’s “Response” which enables beam-hold and gating capabilities for Elekta Linacs, and more (click here for additional information).

We have also secured exclusive ownership of some important patents relating to collision avoidance which allow us to pursue developments in this area. We now have a total of 17 patent families, 33 granted patents and 27 additional patents pending in the UK, US, France, Germany, Europe, Japan, China, and other regions.

In September, Vision RT appointed Dr Adrian Barrett as Vice President, Product Delivery, with responsibility for overseeing all aspects relating to product delivery starting from first concept to the release of final product. Adrian, who holds a PhD in Computer Assisted Surgery, joins Vision RT after holding senior roles at Acrobot and Stanmore Implants.

Vision RT held its second User Meeting in Denver, CO, on May 14-15 this year. The event built on the success of our first User Meeting in San Diego in May 2014 and was attended by over 120 people.

Radiation oncologists, physicists and therapists from around the world gathered in the Grand Hyatt to share their own experiences and best practices with AlignRT® and GateCT®, on treatment sites including general breast treatments, deep inspiration breath hold (DIBH) for left breast, stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), lung, liver and abdominal stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), and paediatrics.
