The beginning of Passoni Companydates back to 1909 when PaoloPassoni founded a factory inBrugherio, in the east of Milan,where steel products were manufac-tured.
In 1946 the factory took the presentCompany name, began to produceiron frames for wooden boxes fortruck starter batteries, for the firsttraction batteries and, later on, rub-ber coated steel boxes.
In the second half of the Fifties afterthe beginning of plastic coated steeltrays, plastic coated steel racks werelaunched on the market.
The sale of these products focusedprincipally on the Italian market andthen when the export began, it wasextended to the international market.
Owing to this expansion in 1981 abranch alpha industrie bedarfsgmbh was founded, now located incity of Worms-Germany.
The original setting up and sale ofproducts manufactured by Passonion the German and European mar-ket has expanded to environmentalservices World-Wide.
Now alpha offers a complete rangeof services helping the customersolve problems, consultancies, con-struction planning and much more.

Thanks to its flexible features, whichmeet any type of installation require-ments, it is the most functional equip-ment on the market made of a foldedsteel plate.It is interesting to note that the upperslots allow placing of the stringersalong the whole length of the sup-port shelf to which they will be fixed.
Electrolyte protection
The supports are totally coated withwhite epoxy powder.
Coding and packing
The supports are packed inside easyto identify boxes with codes corre-sponding to the configuration on thispage.Each box has 2 supports, left andright, 4 isolators of ABS/GF.Four laminated shims are included inthe box. They can be used for theshelf in case the floor is not perfectlyflat.

“h” type standard stringers
These are made of cold shaped steelsections.The section have dimensions rangingfrom 45x55 mm. (1.77”x2.17”).The upper profile of the stringers per-mits the alignment of the elementsduring installation of the battery andit also avoids any incidental lateraldisplacement.The lower slot allows easier longitu-dinal and transversal pairing of thesupports.
“C” type additional stringers
The section has a dimension of45x40 mm. (1.77”x1.57”) and aflat upper support surface.These stringers can be placed in par-allel between the standard pairs ifyou need to increase the support sur-faces and capacity of the rack.
Coating
Electrolyte protection and electricalinsulation: black polyethylene.
Packing and coding
The stringers are packed into boxes.Each of the four lenghts is packed in4 or 6 pieces; fastening material areincluded. Codes are given accord-ing to the length and quantity ofeach box. Example: code n°906identifies a pack of 6 stringers hav-ing a length of 900 mm. Therefore,the first 2 No’s of the code indicatesthe length, the last one the quantity.

These racks have been designed forall types of stationary battery mod-els. In designing these easy-to-useracks, all main requirements, suchas, strength, flexibility, acid-proofprotection have been considered.These racks are light, small and easyto move and store.
Furthermore, these racks are avail-able at anytime because they arealways in stock.These racks can be totally disassem-bled and assembled by using screwsand plates.The main parts consist of stringersand supports.

The two-tier rack is the extension ofthe single-tier rack, whose compo-nents, stringers and supports can beused with special additional setscoded 1002.Additional sets are necessary inorder to permit overlaying the twotiers.
Supporting stand
The profile is steel tube, the section is50 x 30 mm. (1.97” x 1.18”).Electrolyte protection: black polyeth-ylene.
Braces
Steel bars section 30 x 3 mm.(1.18” x 0.12”). Electrolyte protection: black epoxypowder.

BATTERY RACKS
This modular rack system is based onthe components of the standard racksystem.By using of some additional compo-nents, such as stands, braces, tele-scopes and end holders it is possibleto build a seismic rack.Dependence on the battery size andat corresponding choice of the rackcomponents, racks can be createdwith an earthquake safety accordingto the customer demands.The complete range of the usualearthquake loads plus the demand-ed security factors can be covered.The racks are appropriate for use asearthquake proof battery racks inUSA, according to UBC and IBC.

Supporting Stand ES0602 - ES1602
An extra heavy design of supportingstands guarantees a sufficientstrength for seismic loads. Two differ-ent heights of stands make the con-struction of one two tier rack possi-ble.
Brace EB0714 - EB0974
The braces guarantees a high stabil-ity in the lengthwise direction.
TELESCOPE ET0072 - ET0102
The telescope has an adjustmentrange of 45 mm. ( 1,77”). It takesover the lateral support of the cellstogether with the railing.
End holder EB0064 - EB0034
End Holders are adjustable and ittakes over the lengthwise support ofthe cells package together with therailing.
Stand, brace, telescope and end hold-er are coated with epoxy powder.

The passoni alpha cladded racks sys-tems have been designed for themain types of stationary batterymodels.
The basic module is our standardbattery rack including the modularcladded panels.
The cladding parts are realised in athermoplastic compound, based onthe following characteristics.
- Shock resistance according to IK 10EN 50102
- Dielectric strength 6 kV accordingto EN 60950 and EN 50272-2
- Fire protection UL 94V0/ISO 1210
- Ageing according to XP C 20-540

Beside the standard and seismic racksystems that are offered in series, webuild a variety of special construc-tions for extreme cases, such as con-tainer, off-shore, power and nuclearpower stations or military utilities.
These racks are designed, calculatedand built, according to the specificcustomer requirement.
