Central administration – in Malmö
Mediplast’s Nordic home markets are among the most healthcare expenditure intensive in the world
• Advanced publicly‐funded healthcare systems at the forefront of technological development
• An ageing population
• Continuously improving healthcare quality
Rising barriers to entry
• Increased Nordic customer concentration through the merging of public healthcare purchasing areas – each tender getting larger
• Trend of tenders being increasingly comprehensive thereby allowing for public healthcare spenders to reduce the number of tenders and suppliers
• Difficult for product companies to sell directly due to lack of total product assortment
• Difficult for smaller distributors to handle the larger tenders (some areas up to 60 % of a country market)
• Long term strategy – in order to go “through” the Nordic area i.e. up to 4 years for a new products
