Engineering - Solution 360: From mine to final products.

One hundred of experience in the mining processing sector make MI the ideal partner for the treatment of non-metal ores.

Having more than 24 treatment plants all over the world, MI draws upon its know-how and experience to offer streamlined solutions which are based our experience as an industrial mineral producer rather than a mining machinery producer only. MI can offer treatment solutions for raw materials from the very first step, the geological survey of the deposit and analysis of the relevant samples, to the final implementation of the turnkey plant, going through

the engineering and design of each single treatment process. Our design team grants the best solutions for any kind of ore dressing: washing, grinding, drying, sorting, flotation, leaching, magnetic separation etc. MI can also support customers during the start-up phase and through personnel training.

All the interventions of the environmental reclamation are joined by the contextuality of

the recovery with the activity of mining exploitation in order to limit the surface involved.

Environmental reclamation

As a sustainable family company we respect the value of nature and safeguard of the proper

restoration of the areas subject to mining exploitation. We constantly invest in environmental

reclamation projects in our mines and quarries (for more info www.leminierechevivono.it).

A few examples of the objectives of our activities of environmental reclamation, customized for

each site, are:

•creation of a suitable habitat for the reproduction of the local wildlife and birdlife;

•setting in safety/recovery to green/natural enhancement of degraded areas exploited by

previous mining activities before the acquisition of the site by the Group;

•improvement of the pedology characteristics of the fields interested in the reclamation

with consequent increase of the agricultural production;

•creation of pleasant areas to be given to local people through local organizations, such as

Tourist Boards;

•tourist enhancement.

Research and development

13

The R&D activity done by

MI is for internal use,

sometimes acts as third

parties and often in

collaboration with

Universities and

researches centre of other

companies.

Approximately 7% of the total turnover every year is invested in development projects researching new

technologies for the treatment of minerals, aiming to obtain raw materials specifically suited to customer needs.

Due to the technical expertise developed over years and also the continuous cooperation with institutions such as Engineering Schools and Universities, nowadays Minerali Industriali is able to offer great technological flexibility for the treatment of raw materials, thus enabling the design and supply of customized products. Minerali Industriali is researching the application of new raw materials to the industrial cycles of its customers, providing them with extremely important technological support.

During 2011 Minerali Industriali obtained the approval of three European projects called ‘LIFE’ series. For further information please refer to the relevant links to the dedicated websites:

New projects

Here are our plans for the future:

- starting Joint Ventures with key customers in other parts of the world, proposing a minority share with long-term supply contracts;

- developing sale activity of mining plants and machinery;

- development of the activity in Countries where the Group is already present to optimize fixed costs and make full use of the existing management;

- enhancement of Sondalo quartz, one of the best European deposits

for high-end uses such as solar panels, technologically advanced glasses and e-stone;

- evaluation of possible acquisitions and partnership in Italy and abroad.
