Melting Solutions’ History

In a demanding and ever changing world, Melting Solutions has gone through a number

of changes in order to identify and enter new and emerging markets and develop

products and services to meet customer demands. The table below highlights some of

those changes:

1972 Company started under the name of IPW Ltd, supplying heating and melting equipment to a variety of industries

1982 Move to Sutton Coldfield to new premises to expand production fa-cilities

1998 Otto Junker GmbH becomes major stakeholder in the company in order to establish the Otto Junker brand in the UK foundry market and gain the experience and knowledge of IPW. Company name changes to Otto Junker (UK) Limited

2005 Acquisition of TTC furnaces to enable expansion into new market segments like Aluminium Recycling

2006 First order for Tilting Rotary Furnace

2010 Management buyout from Otto Junker, company becomes Melting Solutions Ltd

2011 Joint venture founded with Interpower Induction Corporation. This offered the opportunity to introduce the Interpower brand into the UK and European market and opened the US market to the Melting Solutions brand of the company.

2012 Interpower acquires 100% of Melting Solutions Ltd. The company name changes to Interpower Induction Ltd, retaining the Melting Solutions brand exclusively for our fuel fired product range.

2015 Interpower starts joint venture OttoPower with Otto Junker GmbH to sell Junker equipment in the US with build and engineering support from the USA

2016 Move to new premises to enable ongoing expansion

Our Products

At Melting Solutions our products are driven by the demands of our

customers. We realise that our customers are in an increasingly

competitive market and aim to provide equipment of the best

quality, to enable high productivity and minimise costly down time.

All of our products are covered by a full warranty. Our designs are

proven but we never stop striving for improvement and innovation

to make your production run smoother and more effectively.

Melting Solutions experts have years of

unrivalled experience in the field of

aluminium scrap processing. We offer

technology and solutions for secondary

aluminium casthouses. Melting Solutions’

furnaces and processing equipment have

the most technologically advanced methods

for melting all types of scrap and recycling

into foundry ingots ready to go into the

production, for example, of new automotive

and other cast products.

The key to profitable recycling of scrap is

optimisation of energy, productivity and

most importantly METAL RECOVERY.

Melting Solutions brings together the

complete plant tailored to the specific

needs of the recycler.

Secondary Aluminium Processing

To maximise recovery Melting solutions offer advanced Twin Chamber furnaces with metal

pumping. For drosses and more contaminated scrap Melting Solutions are world leaders in

Tilting Rotary Furnace technology.

Advanced reverberatory melting and holding furnaces with electro magnetic stirring

technology with unrivalled fuel efficiency, productivity and fully homogenised ingot quality.

Processing scrap requires thought and respect for the environment Melting Solutions furnaces include thermal oxidisers (afterburners) and gas filtration to ensure our plants are fully compliant with the very highest world-wide environmental standards. Casting of the final product into various ingot shapes, is done by automated continuous ingot casting lines, to suit the plant size from smallest to the largest plant.

Induction Heating Power Supplies

Power Link™ – Energy Saving Induction Power Supplies Power Supply Range 5 – 5,000 kilowatts, IGBT (Transistor) and SCR Technologies Mains frequencies from 50 hertz to 50 kilohertz The Interpower Power Link Induction Power Supplies are all solid-state units employing the latest state of the art technologies in both power and control electronics. The units are specifically designed to operate in the harshest of environments and will provide long term trouble-free operation. The basic concept of the units employs a special type of power transistor called IGBT (Insulated Gate Bi-Polar Transistor) to allow absolute turn-on and turn-off even at high operating frequencies. The ability to turn off these devices at any time during the operating cycle makes this one of the most reliable systems on the market today. Our power supplies are suitable for a wide range of applications, such as melting and heating of metals, as well as processing applications for foods and chemicals. With a power factor of 0.95 maintained over the complete output range and no significant losses when the inverter is not heating a load, the Interpower power supplies are highly efficient. We offer flexible, customer-driven solutions for any application.

11

Interpower Induction designs, manufactures and installs induction heating equipment for a wide range of applications. These include: Forging and Heat Treatment Induction heating systems including standard billet heaters, Zone Control billet heaters, bar and bar end heaters along with complete material and water cooling systems. Interpower is a leading supplier of forging and heat treatment systems for:

Bar Flat Plate Hot Shearing Slab Bar End Heating Coining Pipe Ends Billets Graphite Coating Preforms Pucks Custom Applications

Vessel and Pipe Heaters Induction heating embodies all the conveniences of electricity taken directly to the process and transformed to heat exactly where it is required. It can be successfully applied to virtually any vessel or pipe system needing a source of heat. Induction offers many benefits unobtainable by other means and give improved plant production efficiencies and better operating conditions since there is no significant emission of heat to the surroundings. The system is particularly suit-able for close control reaction processes such as the production of synthetic resins in a hazard area.
