Introduction
Polyfabrics Australasia Pty Ltd was inaugurated in 1991 with
the mission of supplying high quality Geosynthetic products
with unparalleled service for Australasian civil engineering and
landscaping applications solutions across multiple sectors.
The success of Polyfabrics is attributed to its continued drive from
partnerships with recognised international brands and world class
EOM manufacturers.
In 2016, Polyfabrics expanded globally and
as a result changed their name to Polyfabrics
Australasia. With over 250 years of experience,
we pride ourselves on our service and reliability
that we offer to all our customers both nationally
and internationally.
Polyfabrics recently joined the Tapex group and has become an
industry leader in innovation, finding new concepts and working
with their partners to enhance, modify or adapt to the aggressive
climatic conditions of Australia. As a result, they have become one
of the leading suppliers of geosynthetic materials across a range
of product categories.

The products in the drainage solutions range aim to prevent the leaking of liquids and gases as well as allowing it to safely pass
from one location to another. Critical factors in choosing a suitable product include ensuring the polymer does not contaminate the
liquid in the process of transportation and is able to withstand compressive loadings.
The lining family will contain any liquid that is placed there, and hold it in place until it is either removed or evaporated.
Professional installation and welding is critical for the lining to work. It is also important to add a protection geotextile to ensure
the safety and sustainability of your lining system and prevent damage.
Geogrids have many uses including enhancing the CBR of your soils and enabling reinforcement within the structure.
They help interlock soils or stone in place, while providing load distribution, to form a strong foundation for applications.

Landscaping covers a wide range of functions, from re-vegetating land
that has been used for another purpose to shaping existing landscape to a
desired effect. Landscaping materials can also be used for erosion control to
stop land movements and enable stabilisation within an environment.
Geotextiles are manufactured by using polymers, by either needling or heat bonding them together. There are a range of
geotextiles from nonwovens through to high strength wovens, and each provides the same basic functions of filtration and
separation but have different features. It is also important to consider the polymer the material is made from to decide between
a stronger material or one that has a greater resistance to high temperatures.
Railway Trackbed products that assist in separating layers used in the rail trackbed as well as soils that
have different levels of fineness. The range also includes products that extend the life of the trackbed to
give customers long-lasting solutions to their rail applications.
Products within the sediment control range prevent the slipping or movement of sediment waste in a construction site from
escaping the site through to preventing contamination of ground waters.
Gabions fall under the wire products family and can be used for retaining walls. This product range has traditionally
been used to provide erosion control within a river or canal bed and has recently moved into landscaping and street
furniture applications.

Major Applications
Polyfabrics provides a wide range of applications to help:
• Runway
• Light Civil
• Landfill
• Geomembrane Protection
• Leachate Drainage
• Gas Ventilation
• Ground Reinforcement
• Access Roads
• Pipeline Protection
• Pipeline Warning systems
• Containment
• Rail
• Drydock
Landfill, Containment, Road & Highway, Rail & Brige Structures
Landfill is an important application that requires correct construction to fulfil its function over a long period of time.
Historically the containment layer utilised some form of natural clay resources, but more often than not these materials are not
available or require treating beforehand. The alternative is using a series of geosynthetic materials to ensure that the site does
not get punctured or damaged.
DRAINAGE SOLUTIONS
The various aspects of landfill include:
• Highway Construction
• Mining & Tunnel Lining
• Embankment Reinforcement
• Landscaping
• Maritime & Coastal

• Anti-Pumping system
• Erosion control
• Erosion control
• Tree Root Protection
• Grass protection
• Contaminated soils
• Soil consolidation
Polyfabrics Australasia offers expertise and understanding across all stages of
the containment construction process, and can provide comprehensive geosynthetic
products, service and direction for your project.

Rail and Bridge Structures also help in:
The Road and Highway Application helps stabilise embankments to ensure safe working and stability moving forward,
quickening the construction by adding drainage solutions and de-water the ground using wick drains or PVD’s
(prefabricated Vertical Drains). Polyfabrics Australasia Pty Ltd has been working in this sector for over 25 years and are
keen to share their experiences enabling a smooth construction for all concerned.
RAIL & BRIDGE STRUCTURES
While Rail construction remains diverse between countries and even states, Polyfabrics Australasia understands the overlapping
needs of different geographic regions and the geosynthetic solutions required for each situation.
Water related applications always provide challenges to
construction, from tidal action, dewatering to potential flood risk.
However, the use of Geosynthetic products has now helped make
the construction easier while reducing the risks associated with
water. It is important to remember that there are many different
forms of Coastal and Maritime applications and the geosynthetic
material used also changes from application to application.
Landscaping covers a wide range of fields, from erosion control,
to biodegradable measures, and re-vegetation which serve to
support natural environment all while providing a key function
in the construction.
