She has now had an initial conversation SGS about the possible running of the course and a young person who will be doing her Silver award with Emma over the next year. Youth café continues to run on a Monday night in Upper Beeding. Run by youth steering group. Hot chocolate mountains continue to be the Top seller! Group has come to an end due to many members now having left school. Plans to re launch in January and date change underway. – Good links maintained with HYPER (Horsham youth council), The Youth Voice Network and The Youth Parliament. West Sussex Youth Parliament elections are being held March 2015. Emma is currently seeing 4 young people on a weekly basis referred from SGS. There have been 11 young people referred to date and a number signposted on to other services. Topics have been varied but have included issues such as, Anger Management Easting disorders Self harm Risky sexual behaviours Bullying Parental alcohol addiction Emma is now a member of the SDS steering group with an emphasis on involving young people in the scheme. Lots of plans are underway for events next year such as, SDS acoustic Stars and Songs (including young people in the SDS stargazing event, with a live music performance spot) Silent Disco We have recruited a new youth volunteer (Maisie) who is working with our junior youth club as part of her DofE, We have lost 2 volunteers over the summer break one due to new employment and another has moved away. We now have 5 volunteers.

Cuthman  Based  Youth  Clubs                                                                          Free  Your  mind  Convention                Trips          

Clubs  continues  to  run  with  reasonable  numbers  of  young  people  attending  (30-­‐40  young  people  per  week).    Junior  and  Senior  Clubs  on  Tuesday’s  and  All  Age  on  Thursday.    This  term  we  have  done  sports  such  as,    -­‐ Football  -­‐ Basket  ball  -­‐ Dodge  ball    Crafts  and  cooking  such  as,    -­‐ Sewing  felt  Christmas  decorations  -­‐ Victoria  sponges    -­‐ Cookies    -­‐ Hama  beads  -­‐ Clay  moulding    -­‐ Toffee  apple  making  And  much  more….  We  have  enjoyed  many  games,  the  normal  table  games,  computers,  a  bouncy  castle  and  sparklers  for  bonfire  night.    We  have  also  had  DJ  workshops  from  Tonnes  of  Sound  

We  are  looking  forward  to  a  Christmas  film  and  onesie  night  on  the  9th  of  December    And  the  junior  club  will  be  visiting  Dingamans  on  the  11th  December  to  perform  some  songs  (and  hula  hoping  dance  routine)  for  the  residents.    On  the  28th  of  October  Emma  took  one  young  person  to  the  Free  Your  mind  convention  in  County  hall  North,  a  convention  run  by  young  people  in  the  Horsham  area  discussing  youth  mental  health.  This  was  the  first  event  of  this  kind,  but  we  are  hoping  the  start  of  an  annual  convention.    6  young  people  enjoyed  a  trip  to  Dunsfold  Top  Gear  driving  track  to  have  a  driving  taster  for  those  aged  14-­‐16.  All  the  young  people  did  really  well  at  there  first  attempt  at  driving.  At  the  end  of  last  term  we  took  14  young  people

   Half  term  Camp                    16  and  Under  Christmas  Disco                          WSCC  Anti  Bullying                  Training  –  Understanding  Eating  Disorders,  Management  skills  training          The  Mocktail  apprentice  Project                    Eliv8  

bowling  and  laser  quest  in  Horsham  Superbowl.    Along  with  other  Horsham  Matters  youth  workers,  Dan  organised  and  led  a  residential  camping  trip  over  half  term.  Young  people  from  the  Tuesday  night  junior  youth  club  attended,  camping  and  taking  part  in  team  building  games,  survival  skills,  an  assault  course  and  leadership  development  activities.        Plans  are  underway  for  a  16  and  under  Youth  Christmas  disco  on  Friday  the  19th  of  December  at  the  Cuthman  Centre.  With  young  people  DJing  for  those  attending  youth  club  and  their  friends.                    Emma  had  been  invited  to  sit  on  the  steering  group  for  writing  the  West  Sussex  County  Council’s  new  Anti  Bullying  strategy,  representing  the  voluntary  sector.  The  policy  is  now  in  the  final  stages  and  will  go  in  for  scrutiny  mid  December.  This  has  been  a  great  opportunity  to  build  relationships  with  WSCC  and  look  forward  to  future  partnership  working.    These  training  courses  are  for  personal  career  development  as  well  as  specific  training  for  specific  activities  planned        Emma  has  been  successful  in  securing  The  Mocktail  Apprentice  project  in  Steyning  Grammar  School  Church  Street  site  –  the  project  is  a  alcohol  awareness  enrichment  day  for  secondary  school  children.    Emma  and  the  mocktail  team  will  be  teaching  lessons  around  alcohol  safety  on  the  9th  and  10th  of  Feb.  With  the  main  event  taking  place  on  the  11th  March  2015    Discussions  are  taking  place  with  Paddy  Donovan  the  new  youth  worker  in  Ashington  to  offer  an  Eliv8  course,  a  course  for  small  groups  to  raise  aspirations  in  young

Areas of work to focus on in next quarter Supporting  young  person  completing  arts  award.    Building  numbers  in  youth  club.  Extra  youth  provision  in  Upper  Beeding.    Volunteer  recruitment  Eliv8  course    Stars  and  Songs  event        Feedback from young people, volunteers, community  “Emma  thank  you  so  much  for  taking  my  son  Josh  on  the  driving  trip  last  week,  he  loved  it  so  much  and  has  not  stopped  talking  about  it,  I  would  love  to  buy  him  a  lesson  for  Christmas,  could  you  please  send  me  the  details  of  the  driving  school  so  I  can  treat  him?”  –  Mother  of  year  10  Student  after  driving  trip   “He  loves  youth  club  and  is  always  excited  about  it,  there  is  very  little  for  him  to  do  in  Steyning  but  on  a  Tuesday  and  Thursday  he’s  always  just  like  Mum  I  gotta  go  to  club,  I  got  to  go  down  youth”  –  Mother  of  16  year  old  Boy      “The  DJ  stuff  was  so  cool,  Me  and  XXX  went  and  got  our  own  digital  decks  –  hopefully  we’ll  get  some  more  kit  for  Christmas  –  can  you  get  the  guys  in  again  it  was  sick!”  –  15  year  old  boy    Please  can  we  get  the  bouncy  castle  again???  Can  we  just  have  one  here  permanently?”  –  Weekly  from  several  young  people!    Any concerns going forward?
