Monday READING

Choose a story to read, sequence and retell. We suggest Three Billy Goats Gruff.

WRITING

Practise counting to 40

Find something that has a circular bottom (cup/ tin), trace around it 10 (20) times. Cut them out and write a number between 1 and 10 (20) in the middle of each circle.

Put the circles on the floor in order (only go to the number your child is confident counting to and from).

Step on each circle, counting aloud as you do.

Look carefully at the circles you drew and cut out. Can you describe the shape? E.g. ‘It has one curved side.’

Cut and paste the pictures below in order. Use the pictures retell the story to your favourite teddy.

Cut out the two- dimensional shapes below. Can you sort them into groups? Can you tell and adult why you grouped them the way you did?

STEM

Build a bridge for The Three Billy Goats Gruff out of materials from home. See if the bridge can hold one of your toys.

Wednesday READING

Use the sounds (stretch out the word and blend them together) to read this sentence. The big cat is on the bed.

After reading, cut the sentence into words and try to put it back together.

Have a go at another sentence.

NUMBER: 1-10/20 Warm Up – Lady Bug Partitioning

Practise counting to 40

Pour a small amount of sugar/ salt/ sand on a plate. Have an adult call out a number (0-20). Use your finger to write the numbers.

Count to 10 (20) using a whisper voice. Count using a monster voice, a squeaky voice or a robot voice. Can you count backwards using your voices?

Thursday READING

Read a book with a parent/carer. Retell

what happened in the beginning, middle

and end of the story.

WRITING

On a piece of paper write the name of your story. Next, draw a picture of the characters and write their names below.

PHONEMIC AWARENESS

Adult says the category and then read the nonsense words. Students repeat the nonsense word and then correct word.

NUMBER: 1-10/20 Warm Up – More or Less. Get a deck of cards. Remove picture cards. Place the pile in the centre and with a sibling or parent, turn over one card each from the pile. Whoever has the higher number wins the round.

Practise counting to 40

Use blocks/sticks/rocks/toys to form the shape of the numbers 1-10 (20).

Have an adult help you to cut out some pieces of paper and write a number from 1- 10 on each piece. Cut some more pieces of paper and draw dots from 1 -10. Mix them up then play memory to match numbers.

PE

Practice hopping on both legs.

using names such as square, triangle, rectangle and circle

o the number of faces.

Can you describe the sides (straight or curved; how many sides; how many corners)?

Ask Dad to tell you his favourite memory of when he was a child.

Find out one of his favourite memories of you when you were a baby/toddler.
