Summer Camp a success
This summer saw the introduction of the first ever Fit4it Summer Camp residential.
Introducing HENRY & Fit4SchoolsTwo additional health programmes will be launched in November, HENRY and Fit4Schools.
HENRYisaimedatbabiesandyoung
children,togivethemahealthystartin
lifeandprotectthemfromchildhood
obesity.HENRYoffersarangeofhealthy
workshopsandactivitiestoparents
andfamiliestoenablethemtoadopt
ahealthierlifestyle.
Fit4SchoolsoffersaPHSEstylecurriculum
toKeyStage2pupils,whichincludes45
minutesofahealthworkshop,followed
by45minutesofphysicalactivity.Topics
Thirty-nineyoungpeopleagedbetween12-16years,completedtheSummerCampwhichincludedhealthworkshops,sportingsessionsandatwonightresidentialatanactivitycentre.(cont.p2)
coveredwillincludefoodgroups,food
labels,fatsandsugars,hydration,the
importanceofexerciseandsocialhealth.

Thecampersfinishedtheirweekwitha
two-nightresidentialstayatKingswood
ActivityCentreOverstrandHallonthe
NorthNorfolkcoast.Thechildren
enjoyedahostofoutdooractivities
includinghighropes,outdoorlasertag
andaeroball,plusbeachexcursionsand
eveningcampfires.

a5,000StepChallenge,tackling
theheightsofCarrowRoad’sJarrold
Stand,inaidoftheCommunitySports
Foundation’sSportingLightAppeal.
Workinginrelayteams,theyoung
climberscompletedthechallenge
injustoverfivehourswitheach
participantsteppingtheequivalent
ofanexhaustingtwo-and-a-halfmiles.
Oversixdays,85%ofthegroup,lost
ormaintainedweightwithanaverage
weightlossof1.3kg.Althoughthisisa
successfulresultfortheshort-term,we
willcontinuetoworkwiththegroup
overthenewtwelvemonthsandlook
forwardtobeingabletosupporttheir
progresslong-term.
Asarewardfortheireffortsandfor
completingtheFit4itSummerCamp,
thegroupwillbeinvitedtoaspecial
celebrationeveningforanaward
presentationattheTopoftheTerrace
loungeinCarrowRoad.
39 participantscompletedtheprogramme
74% ofthemreducedtheirwaistcircumference
85% ofparticipantslostormaintainedweight

Meet our Fit4it AmbassadorsAs a result of the Fit4it Summer Camp, we have selected two young people to become our Fit4it Ambassadors.
ExcellentrepresentativesoftheFit4itprogramme,LukeDavidandRhiannonMcDonald,bothaged13,willhelppromotetheprogrammetoothers.
BothLukeandRhiannonadoptedthekey
otherswhotakepartintheprogramme.
LukeandRhiannonhavebeenaninspirationtoothersontheFit4itSummerCampprogrammeandwelookforwardtoworkingwiththemoverthenexttwelvemonths.

Theyhavegoneaboveandbeyondachievingtheirownpersonalgoalsandalsoinencouragingotherstoreachtheirs.

Junior Camp coming this February!Following the success of the Fit4it Summer Camp, in February 2015 we will be launching our first ever junior version of the camp.

theFit4itJuniorCampwillincludethree
daysatCarrowRoadwherethegroup
willtakepartinhealthandgoalsetting
workshopsandarangeofdifferentteam
buildingandsportingactivities.Thiswill
befollowedbyaonenightresidentialat
KingswoodWestRuntonActivityCentre.
Thegroupwillthenbeinvitedback
forweek5,week10,9monthand12
monthfollow-upsessions.
TheJuniorCampwillbefree,subjectto
a£20retainerfee.Placeswillbelimited
to65onlyandweanticipatethesetofill
upquickly.

1. Preheatovento425°F.Linealarge,rimmedbakingsheetwith
foilandmistwithcookingspray.Prickeachsweetpotatoseveral
timeswithaforkandbakefor50minutes.
2.Meanwhile,inapansprayedwitholiveoilonalowheat,add
theonionandcookfor3to4minutes,untilsoftened.Addgarlic
andcookfor1minutemore,untilfragrant.Addtomato,black
beans,sweetcorn,cuminandchilepowder.Increaseheatto
mediumandcook,stirringoccasionally,for5moreminutes.
3.Sliceeachsweetpotatoinhalflengthwise.Scoopoutflesh,
leavinga1/4-inchshell.Keepthefleshinaseparatebowland
placethepotatoesskinssideuponafoil-linedbakingsheet.
Mistwithcookingsprayandplacebackintheovenuntilcrisp
andgolden.
4.Removethepotatoesfromovenandfilleachpotatoskinwith
thebeanmixtureandsomeofthepotatoflesh.Topwithcheese
andreturntotheovenforanother4to5minutesuntilhotand
bubbly.Removefromoven.Topeachwithsourcreamandserve
warm.
