    INVITATIONS TO COMMENT

    InnovationConnect (ICon) Program Review

    The Chie Ministers Department has commissioned an independent mid-term

    review o the Innovation Connect (ICon) grants program, a unding scheme to

    encourage innovation by Canberra rms. Following a tender process G J Wall and

    Associates has been selected to conduct this mid term review.

    The review is to report on whether ICon is meeting its stated policy objectives. This

    is likely to include more specic advice on:

    theroletheICongranthasplayedinthedevelopmentofsuccessful

    applicant companies and whether it is having the desired acceleration

    impacts;

    addi ti onali ty impac ts ;

    theeciencyandeectivenessofprogramprocedures(applicationandassessment process and the role o the Expert Panel);

    whethertheprogramisprovidingpathwaysorconnectionstoother

    sources o advice and unding;

    areasofimprovementforprogramdesignoradministration;

    whetherthereisanongoingjusticationfortheprograminlightof

    changes to the overall business program; and

    anyothermatterspertinenttothereviewanditsobjectives.

    The ACT Government welcomes public input to the review and submissions should

    Comments sought on amenities at Gungahlin Place

    The Land Development Agency (LDA) is proposing to construct three shade

    structures and additional tables and benches in Linear Park in Gungahlin Town

    Centre to improve the amenity o the Park and provide shelter rom the sun.

    The plans or these structures are available at www.lda.act.gov.au

    The community is invited to comment on this proposal by 5.00pm Friday 23 July

    TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURES

    Notice is hereby given pursuant to Section 4 o the Roads and Public Places Act 1937,

    o the intention to close the ollowing roads in the ACT.

    HARMAN / HUME

    WOODS LANE: will be closed between Lanyon Drive and HMAS Harman.

    (Please note access or local residents will be maintained at all times during these

    works)

    TIME: 7.00am Saturday 17 July 2010 to 5.00pm Saturday 30 July 2011.

    REASON: Lanyon Drive duplication.

    GUNGAHLIN DRIVENORTHBOUND AND SOUTHBOUND DIRECTION:will be

    closed at the intersection with Ginninderra Drive.

    Responsibility of cat owners

    Cat owners are reminded that domestic cats are a threat to native wildlie. An ACT

    studyrevealsdomesticcatsareresponsibleforkillingatotalof67dierentspeciesof

    birds and animals.

    You can reduce the risk to native wildlie by keeping your cat indoors, particularly

    between sunset and sunrise, and by putting a bell on your cats collar to provide

    a warning to other animals.I you are living in a cat curew area Bonner, Forde,

    Mulligans Flat and Goorooyarroo your cat must be conned to your property at all

    times.

    Changed public parking arrangements at CanberraHospital (see map below)

    To minimise disruption to patients and visitors during redevelopment at Canberra

    Hospital, temporary parking arrangements will be in place rom Saturday 10 July

    2010 until the new multi-storey car park is completed and ully operational in early

    2011. Some lower foors o the new car park are expected to be operational by the

    end o 2010.

    Public parking spaces

    ThemainpublicparkingwillbeavailableintheYambaDrivesouthcarpark.The

    car park is well lit and within easy walking distance o the hospital.

    AccesstothecarparkisfromalefthandsliplanewhiletravellingnorthonYamba

    Drive. Drivers approaching the hospital rom the east and west on Hindmarsh Drive

    should turn north onto Yamba Drive. Drivers approaching rom the north will be

    directedaroundthecampustotheHindmarshDrive/YambaDriveintersection.

    Smallershort-stay(onehour)carparksandpick-up/setdownareasremainnearto

    the main hospital buildings.

    Disability parking spaces

    ThemainthreehourdisabilityparkingwillremainbeneaththeDiagnosticsand

    Treatment building (Building 12) which is close to the heart o the hospital.

    ACTSES Community Education Volunteers will receive specialised training to equip

    Volunteer dog walkers

    Would you like to get some exercise and help out a worthy cause at the same time?

    Domestic Animal Services is calling or extra volunteers to walk the dogs kept at

    their shelter in Mugga Lane, Symonston. This provides the dogs with much needed

    exercise, socialisation and training which improves their chances o nding a lie-long

    home.

    Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer dog walker should contact Domestic

    Animal Services on 6207 2424 and ask or Lee to arrange a time to attend an

    introduction brie on the volunteer program.
