    INVITATIONS TO COMMENT

    Improving Canberras community health centres designoptions or Belconnen Enhanced Community Health Centre

    As a part o the overhaul and expansion o the ACT health system, the ACT Government isbuilding a new community health centre at Gungahlin; building a new enhanced healthcentre at Belconnen; and reurbishing and expanding the existing acility at Tuggeranong.

    ACT Health is also undertaking orward planning or possible reurbishment o the existing

    community health centres in Civic and Dickson, and or the expansion o the existingcommunity health centre at Phillip.

    ACT Health community health centres aim to reduce the reliance on hospitals whileimproving the quality o lie and wellbeing in the local community. The centres will

    deliver extended health services aimed at assisting clients to manage acute and chronicconditions in the community.

    As part o the development and orward planning processes, ACT Health is preparingdesign options or the six acilities and i s seeking community input and comment on

    these.Details o the community eedback session or the Belconnen Enhanced CommunityHealth Centre are provided below.

    The eedback session will be an open display where residents may call in on an inormal

    Comments sought on Drat Guidelines or the ACT ScreenInvestment Fund

    The Chie Ministers Department is developing guidelines or the operation o the ACTScreen Investment Fund which will commence operation in 2010-11.

    Copies o the drat guidelines are available at www.business.act.gov.au

    The community is invited to comment on these guidelines. A consultation session

    will be held rom 11.00am to 12.30pm on6 August 2010 at the Grin Centre, GengeStreet, Canberra. Please register your intention to attend this session by email [email protected] or phone 62075843 by COB3 August 2010. Written

    submissions are invited by COB 6 August 2010.

    Planning or Eastern Broadacre

    The ACT Planning and Land Authority (ACTPLA) has released a discussion paper seeking

    public comment on ideas or the Eastern Broadacre area, particularly parts that may besuitable or uture employment development. Eastern Broadacre includes the MajuraValley / Symonston / Hume corridor.

    Youth Advisory Council - apply to become a member

    The Youth Advisory Council is made up o young people aged between 12 and 25years who provide advice to the Minister or Children and Young People and the ACTGovernment on matters impacting on young people. The Youth Advisory Councilconducts various consultations with young people through community youth orums,

    community open meetings, ace-to-ace consultations and the Youth InterACT Conerence.Nominations or membership o the Council are open until Sunday 25 July 2010. Forms

    Youth Advisory Council Youth Homelessness CommunityForum

    The Youth Advisory Council Youth Homelessness Community Forum will be held onTuesday 27 July 2010, at the Civic Library rom 5.00pm to 6.30pm. The orum will ocuson youth homelessness issues in the ACT. The Youth Advisory Council invites young

    people, the community, and those who work with young people to attend the orum. Theorum will include guest speakers and provide an opportunity or participants to share

    their views on this important issue.

    Youth Advisory Council Community Open Meeting

    The Youth Advisory Council invites members o the community to attend an OpenMeeting to be held on Tuesday 3 August 2010 at Canberra College, Launceston StreetPhillip, rom 4.30pm to 6.30pm. The Open Meeting is an opportunity or young people to

    provide their thoughts, ideas and concerns on any issues they are experiencing and ndout more about the Youth Advisory Councils role and responsibilities.

    Gungahlin College, opening in 2011, now has an oce in the Gungahlin Town Centre.Principal Gai Beecher invites prospective students and their parents, and communitymembers to meet with her and sta to discuss enrolment and the exciting student andcommunity options the new college will oer.

    Five houses in Canberras northern suburbs were closed recently ater inspections detectedserious concerns related to overcrowding and health and saety issues.

    Events Assistance Program (EAP) unding round now open

    Australian Capital Tourisms Events Assistance Program (EAP) is a unding programdesigned to help stimulate and encourage events that oer the best opportunity to delivereconomic benet through tourist visitation to the ACT. It assists eligible event organisersto target interstate and international visitors as a key audience providing the platorm todevelop, market and promote events in a way that helps to maximise tourisms economiccontribution to the Canberra community.

    To be considered or unding, events must be held during the 2010/11 nancial year, ororganisers should be undertaking distinct planning activity during this period or an eventbeing held in uture years.

    Funding will only be provided or activities specically targeting interstate or internationalvisitation to the ACT and must be applied to business development, marketing/promotionor research with a visitation ocus.

    Two unding categories have been developed in the interests o achieving the desiredtourism outcomes. In both cases, applicants must provide a compelling case or support atthe applicable unding level.

    The 2010/11 EAP unding guidelines and application orms are now available or downloadrom www.tourism.act.gov.auor by contacting the Event Development Executive on6207 2884.

    Please read the unding guidelines careully to ensure your event is eligible or EAPsupport. Event organisers must also discuss their application with the Event DevelopmentExecutive beore submitting.

    Changed public parking arrangements at Canberra Hospital

    To minimise disruption to patients and visitors during redevelopment at CanberraHospital, temporary parking arrangements will be in place until the new multi-storey carpark is completed and ully operational in early 2011. Some lower foors o the new carpark are expected to be operational by the end o 2010.

    2010 Canberra Careers Market

    The ACT Department o Education and Training and Rotary Club o Canberra City Canberra
