South Carolina Tri-County Area
South Carolina’s Tri-County statistical area, including Charleston, Berkeley, and Dorchester County has experienced significant growth within the past half decade due to the areas exceptional geographic location, growing labor force, economic stability, and higher quality of life. These factors led to the investment decisions of large corporations (Volvo, Daimler, Google, etc.) to locate manufacturing and logistical operations within the Tri-County Area. Located in Berkeley County, the Cooper River Business Community is in the center of the fastest growing county in South Carolina and the 40th fastest in the country (U.S. Census Data: March ‘15). Berkeley County currently is home to over 195,000 residents and holds an unemployment rate of 5.7% (April 2015), and its business and population growth is coupled with it’s lowest county government millage rate and job-creation and business-development incentives.
