2

Methodological Considerations

• Reported metrics are based on adult community MHA programs that have reported data to ConnexOntario and children and youth community MHA programs that have reported data to the MOH .

• Programs that are temporarily suspended may still be providing services to clients but are closed for referrals.

• Programs that have re-opened are a subset of programs that are modified.

• Daily contacts are direct calls made to ConnexOntario by the public. A contact can be regarding multiple issues.

• Total wait times include wait times for eligibility and wait times for service.

• Multiple diagnoses can be identified by contacts.

• Novel data collection for adult and child and youth sectors should be interpreted with caution due to missing data

Notes:• Reported metrics are based on MOH-funded community mental health & addiction programs that have reported status data to ConnexOntario.

• Programs that are ‘temporarily suspended’ may still be providing services to existing clients but are not accepting new referrals.

• Daily contacts are direct calls made to ConnexOntario by the public. A contact can be regarding multiple issues.

• Functional Centers in the graph have been grouped* for readability. Functional centers with a high percentage of ‘temporarily suspended’ are highlighted in the key messages.

Key Messages

• 94.6% of programs are open (accepting new referrals), while 5.4% are ‘Temporarily Suspended’ (see Notes). Steady improvements have been observed over the past month.

• Mental health-related call volumes to ConnexOntario continue to increase. March 5th saw the highest MH-related call volume since the beginning of the year.

• Treatment-focused functional centres with a high proportion of 'Temporarily Suspended’ statuses include :

• Short-Term Crisis Support Beds: 20% (-4% from the previous week)• Day/Evening Care – Addictions: 23.6% (-3.4% from the previous week)

• 6% (192/3,437) of programs reported through new data collection that staff absences are jeopardizing their ability to continue providing services. Residential programs are disproportionately impacted by absences. Residential supportive treatment – addictions services reported the highest proportion of programs impacted by absences (21%).

• The temporary suspension of referrals for treatment-focused functional centers are impacting wait times for certain services. Current wait times for certain residential treatment services and day/night care services continue to stay elevated compared to February, March & April.
