Community Guidelines For SWAG 77 Roleplay Performance Culture

Star Wars Actors Guild 77 is produced in part byJDMaulProductions,and is a part of theISCAand a division ofAriafya LLC

The purpose of these community guidelines is a primer to the Star Wars Actors

Guild 77 culture of Social Media Roleplay Performance online. We have several

accounts in our directory calledSWAG 77 NAV Coordinates(Google+)on Facebook,

Tumblr and Twitter.

SWAG 77 has several types of performance accounts:

ANY PROMOTIONS can be done by supporting our efforts by purchasing a $5 ad!

SWAG 77 IS A CLOSED RP whichmeans you must be an approved SWAG 77

member. We vet our members who are active in the Star Wars community. We do

podcasts,we promote reading Star Wars Books, we write copy, we compete in

NaNoWriMo, and we attend conventions and official Star Wars events, which

include interviews with Lucasfilm celebrities. Only members on the same page can

perform with us.

SWAG 77 ROLEPLAY PERFORMANCES USES PAGES ON FACEBOOK. All

members have pages and they are administered from their real life Facebook. To

become a member, you must pass thequiz,and join thegroupfor training.

This rule is strict. No exceptions. All Twitter accounts must be linked to Facebook

Twitter RP accounts can lack security. Due to the 140 character size, RP stories

cannot be expressed as much as other social media platforms. Therefore we must

will be blocked.


ON TWITTER any harassment by an unknown, unverified person will be blocked

without explanation.

TUMBLR is the preferred blog for RP accounts on Twitter. Tumblr requires HTML

knowledge. SWAG 77 uses it for:

We firmly believe in this motto:

Im not my RP character. Im still not my character. Im definitely not my

character. I am NOT my character. My characters thoughts/opinions/moods

are NOT mine. I may play my character well (or horribly) but if shes in a bad

mood, it doesnt mean I am my character

FAN ART ATTRIBUTIONS: We have made great strides to support visual artists

as much as we can. We believe in the work they do and we give attribution (or credit

to the artist) as much as we can. But what we will NOT do is respond to hateful

snarky trolling comments by unknowns who scroll through our feeds to dominate

and destroy the work we are doing. Why? Because we dont have to give attribution.

There is no law protecting fan art. Fan art is taking previously licensed materialowned by someone else, and COPYING it into a new form, called a derivative. The

fan artist is at the privilege of the original licensed owner. The fan artist is at the

owners mercy to not be sued for creating a derivative. The owner can do that

because of copyright. If fan artist doesnt own the license or is NOT licensed for the

artwork, others cannot be forced to give attribution. Sorry thats life. If a fan artist

creates fan art as PARODY according to the United States law and if it is Fair

Use and if it is a household name, then it is possible the new derivative work can

be considered an original creation and have its own copyright, but those do not

naturally happen. One has to apply for the copyright. Disney Lucasfilm defends

their copyrights. Professional artists who are paid for their work do not mind if

others create non-commerial fan art of their work. The artists are already getting

paid for their work. That is business. Its NON-COMMERCIAL meaning no T-

shirts or plaques or billboards of another artists work. But there are NO protections

for the FAN ARTISTS, even for profit because it isFAIR USE!DEMANDING

attribution is being fascist about work that when there is no ownership. It can be

requested, but no one has to GIVE it and proof of ownership can be tested on Google

Image.

What can new budding artists do? WATERMARK the work. Put something on it

that no one can take off of Google Images and use indiscriminately. SWAG 77 wants

to give attribution because we are nice people and we like to develop good relationswith people. But we will not respond to shrill superfluous arguments and libelous

comments of being called art thieves and stolen work that is fan art. Its

immature harassment and it is fan art demands are illegal.

We commission art

The Star Wars Actors Guild 77 performs stories on social media as a form of

entertainment. We take what we do seriously. If you want to get involved in a

positive way with lots of writing, reading, creating, performing, discussing and

developing, then please join us!
