Our most important

reason for joining ETIS is to profit

from the opportunities to share,

discuss, and exchange ideas with

peers in our industry. The ETIS

Gathering allows us to meet

multiple Telco operators and service

providers at the same time, which

enables us to get a better view on

common challenges and solutions

for improving our technical

landscape.

Bram Van der Zwet

Senior Technical Strategist,

Swisscom

Thank you for a very well-run 10

Anniversary ETIS Gathering in the

beautiful city of Budapest! Even

though the industry has undergone

changes throughout the years, the

uniqueness of people getting

together and discussing different

topics and learning from each other

remains. This is a great key strength

of ETIS! I also very much enjoyed the

thought provoking presentations

held in the morning session – as

always they make me think of future

outlooks and the fact that we are

already living the future in many

instances.

Thank you!

Foreword

On behalf of ETIS, I am pleased to invite you to the ETIS Community Gathering 2015. The Gathering will be organised in Copenhagen, Denmark on 15-16 October at the Bella Sky Hotel and will feature a common morning session with all of our members followed by our individual Working Group meetings.

Over the years the Telecom industry has seen ‘Innovation’ swing like a pendulum: popular in good times and put aside during economic downturns. As our members return to a growth mentality after years of cost cutting we are once again seeing Innovation rise up on the Telco agenda. However in today’s highly competitive business environment, a company’s ability to innovate should be more than just a pendulum swinging. In fact, Innovation has become a core driver of growth, performance and valuation in today’s Telcos.

Some large members are investing vast sums of money in group-wide initiatives to stimulate innovation and find the next big idea. Other smaller members are considering pooling resources and offering open APIs to stimulate both cross-sector and cross-border innovation. Additionally, lessons can also be learned from other incubators and industries who have effectively hacked themselves into a rebirth. Responding to this critical issue, the theme of the ETIS Community 2015 is: ‘Disrupt or be Disrupted - The Telecom Innovation Road-map’.

The morning Common Session will feature a Keynote presentation from Innovation Guru, Alexander Blass, who has been credited with kicking off the Crowd Funding industry. His part inspirational and part educational keynote will aim to dispel the myth that Telcos are too big to innovate whilst aiming to inspire our Members to innovate as well. This will be supported by some innovative digital strategies and insights from some of our Members like Swisscom and Ericsson. The session will end with an interactive wrap-up and Q&A with the whole audience.

The remainder of day 1 and all of day 2 will be dedicated to the following ETIS Working Groups: Information Security, Enterprise Architecture, Procurement & Vendor Management, Business Intelligence, Billing & Revenue Management, Digital Sales & Services and the CIO Executive Forum. Both the common session and the parallel working group meetings will provide the opportunity for our members to learn from one another how to do better business in the future. The Gathering is an ideal opportunity for all of the ETIS Members, Associates and Partners to get to network with one another, learn about each other's activities, plans and expectations and above all, share knowledge. In addition to the educational programme, there will be plenty of unique opportunities for networking, with lunches, networking breaks and the Gathering Gala Dinner.
