no one plans to visit the emergency room (ER). It just happens—and usually when you least expect it. Chesterfield General Hospital’s (CGH) staff is ready in your time of need to treat injuries from

minor wounds to life-threatening conditions. Our medical staff is trained to provide quality care supported by modern technology and diagnostic equipment. Our staff will listen, provide a thorough examination and prescribe a treatment plan that’s easy to understand.

assEssinG tHE s ituationOur goal is to do our best to get you through the ER process as quickly as possible. When you arrive, a nurse will check your vital signs and ask about your symptoms, medical history, medications and any drug allergies. The nurse will also perform an initial evaluation to determine the severity of your condition. Our medical staff gives top priority to more severe and life-threatening conditions.

FolloWinG up When you’re discharged from our ER, we’ll make sure you have all the information necessary to continue your plan of care. Your physician or nurse will explain easy-to-read discharge instructions, arrange follow-up visits and discuss calling you after you return home. To learn more about life after your emergency, turn to page 3 of this issue.
