COMMUNITY ENERGY SAVING & SAFETY IN EASTERSIDE The Easterside Partnership is a small resident led voluntary organisation and is set up to tackle social, economic, environmental and community safety issues evident on the Easterside Estate in Middlesbrough. We have lodged a bid to the Marks & Spencer Community Energy Fund to install energy saving and safety measures to the main shopping parade. The project plans to install Solar Panels to the gable end of the shopping side of the area and also additional Solar Panels to the roof of the Hub This will support the power supply to the existing CCTV camera system. The project will also support the installation of LED external lighting around the shopping area and around the community hub. ____________________________________________________________ Marks & Spencer Community Energy Fund is offering £12,500 grants to projects such as ours and our scheme, from many hundreds of applications, has been short listed. It is now down to how many people we can encourage to vote for us on the M&S Energy web site and this is where YOU can help. NotesEasterside is a close knit community situated on the outskirts of Middlesbrough close to the new £21 million Sports Village and The James Cook University Hospital, defined geographical area as 1 square mile.

It has a population of 3250 in 1328 households of which 34% is social housing and is amongst the top 20% most disadvantaged wards/Super Output Areas in England.

Easterside has a strong sense of community pride and a willingness to engage in new and innovative initiatives combined with strong community leadership and existing inter-agency partnership, linking to other local programmes.______________________________________________________
