Goal #1: Balance
A statement made by the West Ada School District explained, "To achieve equal enrollment, all high schools would be 17% over capacity."
Goal #2: Community
A top consideration set by the district is to, “Aligning middle school attendance areas with high school attendance areas.” Current LCMS is the only school that divided its student body to multiple high schools.
Current Boundary Proposal
Goal #3: Continuity
Is simplicity the best or simply the easiest? In this case we can achieve both. The current plan seems to avoid this "simple" concept, specifically with regards to where LCMS students are sent for high school.
Working For a Better Solution
Any plan proposed and approved by the committee should address the well-being of our great students as top priority. These priorities should be centered around community, continuity, and equitable distribution.
Alternative Boundary Plan
We want to encourage the committee and school board to keep the students and their well-being as the top priority. In other words, do not force students to make this critical transition without the social support of their peer group.
Let's put personal agendas aside and keep the focus on our kids.
Considerations: Rocky Mountain
The enrollment at Rocky Mountain is a hard challenge to solve due to the population density of North Meridian. The Alternative Boundary Plan follows the same realignment strategies as the current plan proposed by the committee.
