Concept Statement

Reflect, Change, Celebrate

It is important to identify and reflect upon society issues that affect the future generations of Brazil. Decaying infrastructure as a result of government neglection brings huge concern among Brazilians; whereas violence and crime invades the city streets decreasing tourisms and rising stereotypes. This reflection is translated into a change of lifestyle and future perceptions of class, race, and education. Overcoming such views can unfold new ways to celebrate Cariocas’ culture and values. The design of this community center would speak of unity among Brazilians, regardless of social differences, to empower children and adolescents to become unprejudiced.
