COMMUNIST PARTY

The Communist Party in the United states of America was formed on September 1, 1919 in Chicago, Illinois.

This happened because of the spilt in the Socialist Party in America

C. E. Ruthenberg is the founder of the Communist Party

COMMUNIST PARTYIn the 1920s the Communist Party was attacked by the government.

In the 1930s during the Depression the Communist Party recommended  for unemployment insurance, the right to organize, and for Social Security.

The Communist Party helped make up the  Social Security system.

Members of the Communist Party also fought in World War II

COMMUNIST PARTY

In the late 1940s and 1950s the members of the Communist Party of were locked up because they went against the government.

In the 1960s the Communist Party grew

In the 1970s and 1980s the Communist Party participated in the antiwar and peace movement

In 1972, 1976, 1980 and 1984 the party were candidates for the President and Vice President

Today the Communist Party is growing in support and members especially through the internet
