Lutz, Prochnow, Koern- ke, Pipp, Flynn, Sherk, Rash, Groves, O. Lutz, Sink, Pres. Schmid, 14. Ab- sent: Aid. Hubbard, 1. Minutes of previous meeting ap- proved. Communications, From Dr. John Wessinger, calling attention to the faulty system of heating the police department rooms, received. Moved by Aid. Prochnow, that the chair a^ppoint a committee of three to investigate same. Adopted and Aid. Prochnow, Pipp and Rash ap- pointed such committee. From State Fire Marshal's bureau, co'mplying with request for informa- tion as to sanitary condition and safetey of theaters in city, stating that all had been inspected and ap- proved, received and ordered on file. From Rt. Jiev. E, D. Kelly, asking that tax paid on sanitarium property amounting to $145.75 be refunded, re- ceived. Moved by Aid. Pipp, that matter be referred to the finance committee. Ad'Oipted. (Enter Aid. Hubbard.) l*etitions. Of Weinmann and Geisendorfer, asking permission to construct an eight inch sanitary sevA'er in Mill st. from Ann Arhor Brewing Co. prop- perty to 'Broadway sewer, received. Of Jay C. Taylor, et al, asking that petition of Weinmann and Geieendor- fer, asking permission t o p u t a sewei' in on Mill St.. be not granted, receiv- ed. Moved by Aid. Sherk, that the pe- tition of Weinmann and Geisendorfer be denied. Moved by Aid. Koernke, as an amendment, that chair appoint a -committee of three to investigate the matter and report back to council. Amendment lost by following vote: Yeas, Aid. Fiegel. Hanselmann, A. To the Honorable, the Common coun­cil.

Gentlemen: Your Railway commit­tee, to whom was referred the com­munication of the State Railway Oo^m-mission relative to the applica­tion of the American Express Co., and the Wells-Fargo & Co. for au­thority to make a joint office in the city, begs leave to report as follows: "We have investigated the mat ter very carefully and have taken it up with the merchants who would ibe inter­ested in the matter and it is the wishes of those merchants tha t the offices be not consolidated. Their objection is due to the fact tha t they feel that there will be no com­petition as regards the mat ter of de­livering express received in the city. The committee feels much the same as the merchants interviewed on the mat te r and are not, therefore in fa­vor of a joint office.

We therefore recornmend tha t the City Clerk be instructed to so notify the State Railway Commission.

Resolved, that the Co^mmon Council hereby declares for a general revis­ion of said charter in conformity to law.
