Standard

Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English grammar and usage when writing or speaking.

L.6.1 is a broad statement that encompasses the 8 parts of speech, as well as other concepts. Hence, the Generator bank has multiple categories for this standard.

nouns Identify nouns as common or proper. Identify and understand uses of nouns: subject, object, or predicate nominative (predicate noun).

verbs

Identify action verbs (transitive vs. intransitive); distinguish between action & being verbs, helping & linking verbs; identify and understand verb tense (including present, past, future, progressive, perfect); identify verb phrases; use correct subject-verb agreement in sentences.

adverbs

Identify and understand the uses of adjectives. Use and punctuate adjectives correctly. Understand that adjectives modify nouns. Identify adverbs. Understand that adverbs modify verbs, adjectives or other adverbs.
