• NORDC offers four types of volunteer
opportunities:
• Athletic Coaches
• Rec Center Volunteers
• Special Events
• Volunteer Groups
Football Games
• Volunteers are needed on Fridays and Saturdays to
assist with game day operations.
Family Game Night
• November18th | Cut-Off Rec Center |7p-8:30p
• Volunteers are needed to assist with supervision and
games.
Outdoors
• Volunteers are needed to assist or teach
Canoeing/Fishing/Geocaching classes, usually offered
Saturday afternoons at Joe W. Brown. (training
provided)
Rec Centers
• Volunteers are needed to assist with administrative
assistance, program instructing, and program
assistance.
Boy Scouts of America
• Volunteers are needed to serve as instructors.
Junior Achievement Company Program (Teens)
• Volunteer Commitment: Weekly two-hour
engagements at a designated Teen Center; assist and
provide teens with business-associated direction and
insight; Provide NORDC with scheduled updates
regarding progress and needs.

Booster Clubs
Nearly 100 participants gathered for the first annual
Booster Club Roundup at Joe W. Brown Rec Center on
Thursday, September 29th.
25 Booster Clubs and 4 Clubs currently in the
application process were represented in a facilitated
working dinner meeting.
The open discussion between Booster Club
members and staff was directed by NORDC Chair
Byron C. William to review 2016 and to anticipate
the re-certification ceremony on January 25, 2017.

Hispanic Heritage Celebration

In celebration of Hispanic Heritage
month, NORDC held its first event to
celebrate the diversity and vitality of the
Hispanic population in the New Orleans
area.
Activities included:
• Soccer matches
• Art demonstrations
• Art exhibits
• Live music
• Food vendors
• Inflatables for kids
Over 400 patrons attended the event held
at Annunciation playground on
September 17th.
