Introduction of Beidahuang Kenfeng Seed Co., Ltd.

The major crops that Kenfeng Seed commercializes

include corn, rice, soybean, sugar beet, and wheat.

The annual capacity for seed production, processing

and storage is up to 250,000 metric tons. The average

annual operation income of recent years is close to 2

billion with a profit of about 200 million RMB yuan.

Kenfeng Seed is actively expanding international

business seeking collaborations with other

companies. It has established and maintained

productive collaborations with several companies

including KWS of Germany, Peitekusi, Syngenta,and

so on.

The headquarter of Kenfeng Seed is located in Harbin, Heilongjiang province, China. It has divisions and breeding stations across China including Jilin, Liaoning, Hebei, Xinjiang, Neimeng, Hunan, and Hainan provinces.

Kenfeng Seed opened a brand new research center in 2016. The first phase of the construction occupied an area of 2 hectares. More than 115 experienced researchers are working at the center that are well equipped with world class advanced instruments in several disciplines such as seed treatment, molecular breeding, and genome editing.

The company will test the adaptability and yield of any new soybean

variety before participating in provincial and national test. Only high

yield varieties are selected to participate in regional trials at the

provincial and national level.

instruments.

Molecular breeding of soybean

frogeye leaf spot and cyst

nematode resistance, genome

editing of soybean quality traits

are being currently carried out at

the center.

As the modern agricultural practice is developed in

Heilongjiang province, Beidahuang Group has a large

collection of advanced large scale modern machineries

and adapted new soybean cultivation methods. Narrow-

line dense planting has become the mainstream

cultivation method. The average soybean hectare output

is 2,700 kilograms at Beidahuang Group, which is

significantly higher than the average level of Heilongjiang

province. It is very important to breed and select semi-

dwarf varieties suitable for narrow-line dense planting.
