As for the De- tachment and the club- house, we ended 2008 with donations being made to the Toys For Tots, Community Food Bank and Tucson Diaper Bank on behalf of the League and the Members of the Tucson Detachment. Even with the tough economic times, you members continue to support the community with Marine Corps Class & Style. While these three organizations were our main focus, we were also able to make cash donations to members of the Marine Corps Reserves and Recruiters, Veteran Family Support through our VA Service Rep., Fred Holl- wedel, Tucson Raiders Senior Midget Football Team, VA Patient X-Mas Party, Christina Valdez and the Shoot For the Stars Basketball Youth Tournament in memory of her son, Cash and Raffle Item donations for several other Funeral Bene- fits, hosted the Marine Recruiter & enlistee Program Breakfast. We topped it all off with a Great New Years Eve Party and Dance held at the clubhouse. Sylvia and I would like to thank everyone once again for all your help and support this past year in accomplishing many of our goals. We ask for your continued support and look forward to another year of many accomplishments. The years start with the clubhouse hosting a Pool Tournament on January the 17th 2009 against Ameri- can Legion Post #59. This is an all day event to be held at the clubhouse with tournament starting in the morning and dance that evening. Super Bowl Party will be held on February 1st, 2009. In early February we will be attending the Marine Expo West and Quin Division meetings being held at Camp Pendleton, California and invite all interested to attend. Staff meeting in Sedona, Arizona will be in March so please mark your calendars if you plan to attend. We will be quite busy in the coming months and ask any mem- bers, that if your circumstances will per- mit, to please stop by lend a hand. It is always greatly appreciated.
