The COMITE DE SERVICIO DE LOS AMIGOS IN MEXICO wishes to make knovln its point of view about the actual situation in Chile through the following declaration:

and., acts of s""abotage as has ocurred in Chile. ! ,. I

3o We are opposed to the use of torture, the detention and imprison­ment without previous trial, the repression and the assassination of politicijl opponents, the classification as crimes of those acts that were legal when they were committed; and also we are opposed to other violations of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of the United Nations that continue to occur under the actual Military regime in Chileo

4. We are opposed to the negation of the rights of workers to orga­nise and to meet peacefully for the defense of the'ir interes1.s and

welfare.

5o We are opposed to the activities of organizations such as the c.r.A., -hich has admitted to have distributed eight million dollars in Chile \ii th the aim of preventing the election and later to destabiliz, the government of President Allendeo

6. We disapprove of the military, economic, political, financial di­plomatic and moral aid that the government of the United States of America continues to give to the Chilean Military Juntao

Therefore the COHITE DE SER.VICIC DE LOS AMIGOS IN MBXICO makes the following recommendations:

1o We urge the citizens of t he United States of America, who are in aooord with the above declaration, to work in order that their government withdraw its support to the M"ili tary J unta and we als o urge them to support those members of the Congress of the United States 1tho propose that all military aid to Chile be s uspended.

2. We urge the ci tizens of t he United States to giv e thei r support to the Commission of Human Rights of the United Naa:tons, to the O.A.s., to Amnesty International and to other organizations in their efforts to protect human rights in Chile.

3. We recommend tl1at ti1e American J:<"'riends Service Committee make a public declaration, similar to the one above, expressing its opposition to those acts of the f.:ili tary Junta in Chile which constitute violations of human ri7hts and dignity, and also opposing the support by the government of the United States of the Junta.

to be manifested, we call UJ>OD World Public Opinion to insist that all governments and transnational organizations allow th,is govern­m:ant to take form free of any organized influence from outside of Chileo

6. We urge all peoples and all governments to respect and practice the principle& of Non-Intervention and Self-Determination as the best and surest way to preserve world peace •
