WHY CONSIGN YOUR COLLECTION
TO HERITAGE AUCTIONS?
You’ve spent years, even decades, putting your collection together, and maybe the time has
come to sell. Or perhaps you’ve inherited some items as part of an estate. Whatever your
situation, whatever your reason, you have one goal: to realize the very best price for every piece.
Heritage Auctions, the world’s third largest auction house, can help you accomplish that goal.
YOUR CONSIGNMENT DECISION
Heritage Auctions knows that educating yourself is the most important step in the process of
selecting your auctioneer, and we want to make sure you have all the tools you need to make
an educated decision. Examine the advantages that Heritage offers, and you will learn how we
continually achieve some of the highest prices in the marketplace.
Your consignment is welcome, no matter the size, whether it is an entire collection or a single
valuable piece. We answer your questions, provide practical options, and help you decide which
items are most appropriate for our various auction venues. In order to maximize your profits,
we develop the best sales strategy for your collection, from estimating and researching your
comics or artwork, to presenting it to the right buyers. Our offices and galleries in Dallas, New
York, Beverly Hills, San Francisco and Chicago allow for extensive advertising and promotion in
America’s largest and richest markets.

OUR MISSION — Our mission is to be the world’s most trusted
and efficient marketplace and information resource serving owners of fine art,
vintage collectibles and other precious objects.
Our knowledgeable staff and suite of auction tools help our clients assemble
the best collections possible using the latest technological advancements – far
and away the best in the business – that ultimately enhance the personal and
financial well-being of our consignors.
EXPERIENCE — Heritage Auctions has presented more than 9,300
successful auctions, selling more than $873 million in 2020. More than 336,000
consignments have been sold successfully, with full, timely payment to every
consignor. 85,154 bidders have used our unique and patented HERITAGE
Live!®1 online bidding platform, winning more than 1,199,016 lots valued well in
excess of $1.8 billion in recent years.
STRONG PRICES REALIZED — Some of our notable auction
results of the last few years are shown on these pages. We look forward to
attaining similarly impressive results for your pieces. Our success in the comic
auction realm is second to none. Our ten most recent Comic & Comic Art
Signature® auctions (January 2019 through January 2021) have averaged an
astonishing $10 million-plus each in prices realized on behalf of our consignors.
We’re especially proud of this landmark achievement because no auction firm
other than Heritage has ever conducted even one $10 million Comics & Comic
Art auction.

WHAT SETS HERITAGE
AUCTIONS APART?
APPRAISAL SERVICES —
Heritage Auctions has recently organized its
appraisal services into a centralized department
that will produce formal fair market value and
retail replacement appraisals for estate tax, gift
tax, financial planning, insurance and charitable
donation purposes. Working with our experts,
you will receive thorough, illustrated appraisal
reports written in compliance with all IRS, USPAP
and Insurance standards. Should you later
decide to sell your property listed in a Heritage
appraisal, all fees will be rebated in full or on a
prorated basis against the seller’s commissions.
Heritage Auctions employs the top talent in the
appraisal business to give you the best possible
information on the value of your collection.
MULTIPLE VENUES TO
ACCOMMODATE YOUR ENTIRE
COLLECTION — We realize that most
collections include a variety of material, from
the rare and valuable to the more common. For
this reason, Heritage Auctions has established
multiple selling venues, several with low lot
minimums, so that we can likely handle the
entirety of your consignment, rather than “cherry
picking” the best material and leaving you with
the rest, as many auction houses are renowned
for doing.
Heritage’s Signature® auctions are for the most
valuable material in your collection. These
items are spotlighted in our full-color illustrated
catalogs, which are sent to our best buyers.
Signature® auctions consist of exciting live floor
sessions in which bidders from all over the world
compete for your treasures
in person, over the phone
and through
HERITAGE Live!®
EXPERT CATALOGING AND
PRESENTATION — Heritage Auctions understands
that presentation is a key factor to generating demand. Our
experts describe each of your consigned items to maximize its
appeal while maintaining strict standards for accuracy.
The award-winning catalogs produced for each of our
Signature® auctions are second to none: beautifully produced
by professional graphic designers with full-color images of
each lot composed in detail by professional photographers.
The result is a book that is both a gorgeous and collectible
auction catalog, and a treasured reference work for students,
scholars and collectors. Such an elaborate presentation will
no doubt make you proud and ensure your legacy for years to
come.
WORLDWIDE MARKETING REACH —
Our auctions are events watched by the world. Previous
auctions have generated national and international press
coverage on major TV, radio, newspaper and Internet news
outlets. Every year we spend $20+ million dollars marketing
our consignors’ items to a worldwide audience.
Marketing campaigns begin with press releases to a variety
of news organizations announcing important consignments
and significant highlights, followed by advertisements in trade
publications and mainstream press. Updates and targeted
messaging are also regularly distributed to interested buyers.
Heritage Auctions boasts more than 3.1 million collectors in
our customer database, more than 1.4 million of which – in
195 countries worldwide – are online bidder-members on
HA.com. All of this exposure means more money for each
piece you consign!

PROFESSIONALISM
Heritage Auctions’ fine reputation is not a matter of chance. It reflects our
relentless drive to always improve our services. Innovation is a Heritage
trademark, seen in every element of our auction process from policy to
technology. We combine this with a strong corporate ethic, uncompromising
integrity, transparency and old-fashioned customer service. That’s why we
are the third largest auction house in the world, with $873+ million in sales in
2020. We’ve sold and fully settled more than 336,000 consignments, on time
and in full.
INTERNET AND TECHNOLOGY LEADERSHIP
Heritage Auctions is a leader in the field when it comes to cutting-edge
technological innovation. We are one of the first major auction houses to
embrace the Internet. On average, we have more than 75,000 unique visits to
HA.com each day – consistently the highest web traffic of any auction house.
(Source: SimilarWeb.com 1/21).
Heritage maximizes the number of participants in our auctions through two
proprietary user-friendly Internet bidding systems. The first one enables the
buyers to place bids in the weeks leading up to the auction. This generates
millions of dollars in bids from around the globe, pushing prices higher and
higher prior to the live auction sessions. With the second proprietary platform,
HERITAGE Live!®, we bring the live auction floor to the buyer (no matter where
they might be) enabling them to watch the auctioneer and participate in real time
with the floor bidders. As the consignor, our technology brings you demand and
participation from around the world and top prices for your materials!
The Heritage Auctions website offers an extensive set of tools for both buyers
and sellers. The free Auction Archives, a record of virtually every lot Heritage has
auctioned over the last decade – more than 5.3 million lots across all our auction
categories, complete with full-color, enlargeable images, thorough catalog
descriptions and auction results – is one of the premier tools available exclusively
to Heritage members. No other auction house offers this level of information
to its clients. By accessing the archives, potential buyers can easily research
pricing trends over several years, making them more confident bidders. More
confident bidders equal higher prices.
In addition to the Auction Archives, Heritage makes it possible for
collectors to enter items they’re seeking into MyWantList®. When an
item you’ve consigned matches an item on a collector’s MyWantList®,
that collector is automatically sent an email notification inviting them to
bid on your piece. If that collector is subsequently outbid on a lot, they
are invited to bid again. In this way, Heritage maximizes the results for
all of your consigned items.
Heritage Auctions utilizes today’s social media platforms to further
market your consignment. Our social media specialists are dedicated
to posting auction news and creating buzz for auction highlights on
social media platforms. Video highlights are uploaded to YouTube, to
be viewed and shared by dealers and collectors worldwide.
The HERITAGE Live!® online bidding platform, with streaming audio
and video of the Live auction, also facilitates Mobile bidding so
collectors can view, track, bid and win from virtually anywhere.

“I am very enthusiastic about continuing to be a part of your auctions of original comic
book art. Heritage has treated me most professionally. I was sent notifications every
step of every auction, and the settlement checks for each sale were sent with such
precision that I could forecast in which day’s mail the check would come. “
- Dick Ayers
“When our family decided to part with some of my grandfather Wilson McCoy’s
original artwork, we researched all our options. The resources and expertise of
Heritage Auctions placed it above the rest, and their intelligent sales strategy
helped us maximize the value of our items. Their level of service and knowledge
was highly appreciated. Heritage Auctions’ reputation in the field of comic
auctions is unparalleled, and we’re so glad we chose to work with them! We
would highly recommend them to anyone looking to sell their family collection.”

“Far as I’m concerned, the real
superheroes are the great guys
at Heritage. I really lucked out
when I met ’em ’cause they got
me prices that exceeded my
wildest expectations, plus it was
a real kick to work with them.
I don’t want this to sound like
a TV commercial but, so help
me Spidey, there’s no one I’d
rather entrust with my collection.
Excelsior!”
- Stan Lee
“I collected Golden Age, Silver Age, and Bronze Age for nearly 50 years.
It took me three years to decide how to sell my comics. One company stood out.
They produce beautiful catalogs, no hidden fees. I’m glad I went with Heritage
Auctions.”
- Mister Magik Woo
“I was thrilled to find a comic book from my adolescence that I thought I’d lost -- a
well-read copy of Amazing Fantasy #15. It’s been 50 years (gulp!) since I collected
comics, so my only impulse was to find the best price at auction for this collector’s
item that I could manage. A still-active collector friend pointed me to Heritage, so I
sent a message about my find to them via their website. I don’t think five minutes
had gone by before Matt Griffin, comics consignment manager at Heritage, called
me back to express HA’s interest in handling my auction. Over the ensuing days,
Matt “held my hand” through all the stages of advising, shipping, and follow-up;
he was super-prompt and cheerful about getting back to me at other times as
well, no matter how trivial my enquiry. Before too many weeks had passed, my
AF15 was graded, showcased in HA’s impressive print catalog for the upcoming
Signature Auction, and opened up for online bidding. What a thrill to watch the
bidding unfold over the next two weeks ... and finally to view the auction in real-
time, thanks to HA’s streaming-video setup. I’m very happy to endorse HA’s well-
thought-through approach to their Signature Auction prospects and clients.”
-Jonathan King, Berkeley, CA
“My father, Joe Simon, was very concerned
about what would happen to his huge art
collection, to all the art he had saved and
collected over the decades of his prolific life.
Repeatedly, my father would instruct us: ‘Give
it to Heritage’. That was Dad’s unwavering
advice to our family.
As my father had expected, Heritage
responded in the highest professional capacity
we could ever have hoped for.
I wish to thank the staff at Heritage Auctions,
and especially Ed Jaster, for the superb
work that has been done for the Estate of
Joe Simon. The advice, the publicity, the
correspondence, and the sensitivity shown us
were wonderful.”
-Melissa Simon Groben, Co-Executrix, The
Estate of Joseph H. Simon
“I feel that I must acknowledge the
outstanding effort that I feel you made on my
behalf to get my comic collection into shape
for your Signature and Sunday auctions over
the past few months.
Your prompt and professional replies to my
questions, and your advice on which books
would most benefit from CGC grading paid
off in ways that I had not imagined, both
in terms of the number of bids that were
generated and the prices realized for the
books. You placed my collection in its best
light, and I am grateful to you for that. It is
obvious to me that I made the correct choice
in consigning with Heritage.”

“The results of this final auction of my collection were
about 50% higher than I expected.
What impressed me the most was the constant attention
to promoting the history of the paintings. When I read the
write-ups I realized you and your staff knew a lot more
about the paintings than I did, and I had them for 30
years. That really gave the auction something extra, and
it was handled with extreme professionalism.
Also, I own 70 radio stations and have owned more than
200 stations, all of which have websites. I am jealous
and covetous of the job you do with your website. It’s
so friendly and comprehensive – it’s a work of art. It’s a
superior product that makes the end product of buying
and selling easier and more productive.
In general, everyone I dealt with was very businesslike
and professional.”
