EU Ecolabel, geographically widest ecolabel covering the whole lifecycle, available for many consumer products. EU Ecolabel has criteria for different products e.g. copying and graphic papers, newsprint papers, converted paper and criteria for printed paper products.

Nordic Ecolabel, ‘The Nordic Swan’, is mainly used in Nordic countries. It is available for 60 consumer product groups including copying and graphic papers, newsprint paper and printed products. UPM does not have Nordic Ecolabel certifi cate but inspected paper status, which means that customers can utilize their Nordic Ecolabel with these products providing they have the certifi cate.

Austrian Ecolabel is the national ecolabel in Austria since 1990 covering the whole lifecycle of the product. It is available for several different product groups like graphic papers and printed products. UPM has the Austrian Ecolabel for Steyrermü hl’s paper grades.

Der Blaue Engel is a German ecolabel. It has been awarded since 1978 by the Jury Umweltzeichen and it is the oldest ecolabel in the world. There are two different criteria: Printing and Publication paper primarily made of waste paper (RAL-UZ 72) and 100% recovered paper (RAL-UZ 14).

FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council®) ensures that wood raw material is coming from responsibly managed forests and controlled sources.

* UPM does not have Nordic Ecolabel certifi cate, but Inspection status for 7 paper mills enabling UPM customers to utilize their Nordic Ecolabel certifi cate.

PEFCTM (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certifi cation) is the world’s largest forest certifi cation scheme. It proves that wood raw material is coming from well managed forests and controlled, non-controversial sources.
