Gemma Mengual

Gemma Mengual Civil is one of the best Spanish swimmers of synchronized swimming. Some people call her “La sirena de Barcelona” (the mermaid of Barcelona).

She was born in Barcelona, on 12th April 1997.

Gemma started to swim when she was 8. She was interested in synchronized swimming because of her cousin, who travelled from Switzerland to Barcelona just to swim.

In 1992, she joined “Kallipolis” swimming club.

In 1994 she became subchampion junior at an European competition.

When she was at school, her friends called her “la nadadora flacucha” (the skinny swimmer) but, though her friends laughed at her, she never gave in because swimming was her dream.

Gemma never forgets that, though she might be more famous because she talks to journalists, the success at the competions is for all the team and she always thanks for everything to her family, friends, team mates and her trainer ( she has had the same trainer since she started her career at Kallopolis swimmimg club) Anna Tarres.

When she gets older and swimmming might be a bit harder because of the age, she’ll probably become a trainer.

Alatriste is a Spanish captain of Flandes’s regiment. He’s very human, with big virtues and big defects, a very well-made character situated in his time- XVII century- and geography, with lots of friends. A character forever.
