C.1.4. DESCRIPTION OF PARTNER NO. 1

Description of organisation, role in the project and general and specific social context as for example: being in a disadvantaged area, having participants with specific needs (e.g. participants at risk of social exclusion, migrants, refugees).

Our school has got 350 children from age 6 to 15. It is located in a suburb of the capital city Prague – Czech Republic. By public transport we can be in the very centre of the city in 30 minutes. In the Czech language the official name of our school is Basic School. It means that we provide basic, general education. Our students are from a wide range of social and academic backgrounds. Our school is getting more and more multicultural because we have more and more students coming from different countries - mainly from Vietnam. These students are always very hard working and enrich our school life. When our students finish our school all of them continue to one of several types of secondary school. The majority of our students are from the close area around the school. There are few other Basic Schools around our school. We are happy that we are successful in that competition and we have still enough students. Now in the Czech Republic the number of children is reducing and some schools must be closed. It is big challenge for our school – to be attractive enough for our students and parents. In addition to regular work we organise and take part in sport activities, we have school choir, we have taken part in competitions with our video clips, we have travelled with our children to many countries to meet students and teachers in our partner schools. In last few years we were in Sicily, England, Italy, Turkey and Poland. Always it is a big group of 20 - 30 students. We have hosted students and teachers of our partners in our school. Recently we have had students from Poland and Turkey. Parents and teachers can meet together in activities like the School Ball or Comenius project meetings. Sometimes parents go with us abroad. Work on Comenius project helps to make our school more attractive. It helps to make our work on the school curriculum more variable. Our school has taken part in a few Comenius projects. It always brings a new point of view to our school work. During the last Comenius project we recognised that multimedia, more and more, is changing our ways of communication. In this new Comenius project we would like to concentrate on this new phenomena. Our aim is to find out the possibilities of expressing ourselves, sharing information, finding new ways of teaching, finding inspiration from schools that are ahead of us in this way. We want to learn ways in which the digital world can enhance our school lives.

C.2.4. DESCRIPTION OF PARTNER NO. 2

Description of organisation, role in the project and general and specific social context as for example: being in a disadvantaged area, having participants with specific needs (e.g. participants at risk of social exclusion, migrants, refugees).

Independent Prep school, age range 3-13 years. Admissions are non-selective and children have a wide range of social and academic abilities. A significant proportion of pupils are from ethnic minorities and come from a range of faiths. We are keen to include all pupils in the project, including those with additional special needs. We feel the aims of the project will provide an excellent mode of communication for these children who often find written work difficult. We currently hold the Full International School Award demonstrating our commitment to cross cultural partnerships. Parents are fully involved with the life of the school and the school regularly takes part in and supports local events (For example - Fund raising for local Children's Hospice; pupils helping at a local old peoples centre). We are keen to link this project to our Young Manager's scheme, allowing our more senior pupils to take on responsibilities from a working perspective. Pupils will be given the opportunity to apply for jobs and roles within the project which will lead them to develop their interview skills as well as giving them chance to manage and organise activities independently. Our school is well resourced and we are keen to share and develop our experiences of enriching pupils education through the use of digital media. Having been involved in two previous Comenius projects, we feel strongly that the whole school gained a great deal from these partnerships. Parents and families played an integral part in the projects, building stronger relationships that extended beyond the boundaries of our school community. Pupil's exposure to different European cultures widened their horizons and opened their minds to new and exciting experiences and knowledge. Awareness within our local community was also raised through the local press who supported and published articles showing the success of many partnership meetings.

Scoala Nr.1 Independenta is a primary and lower secondary school with approximately 300 students aged 6- 15, and a staff consisting of 24 teachers. The school is aiming at inclusion and equality combined with increased learning outcome and is dedicated to providing the best possible educations for our students. Some of our students have consistantly academic honors. The school has some experience in national and international projects and wants to give the pupils and teachers opportunities to broaden their views in a greater European context. The school is a partner school in the project.

C.7.4. DESCRIPTION OF PARTNER NO. 7

Description of organisation, role in the project and general and specific social context as for example: being in a disadvantaged area, having participants with specific needs (e.g. participants at risk of social exclusion, migrants, refugees).

We are a friendly school with 370 students ( 6-15) and 40 teachers in the green outskirts of Ljubljana (capital city). We are trying to keep balance between knowledge and values as well as tradition and new trends. The school is active in promoting tolerance, inclusion (teaching SEN children) and diversity. Camping trips are a regular feature for every grade. All our children learn to swim and ski early and promoting healthy life style (food, environment) is a continuous process. Also developing better reading competence is our goal at the time. We are proud of our good cooperation with parents and community (Meetings of 3 generations, Christmas fair, Rainbow city, Flying Kites). Annual fund-raising concerts are our trade mark. Lately we have started more efficiently introducing ICT in everyday teaching/learning and we are looking for more ways to explore it. We have never been in a Comenius programme for school partnership and we are embracing the opportunity to learn more and broaden the horizons, build tolerance and develop inter-cultural aspects of life to all involved in our school and the community as well.

C.9.4. DESCRIPTION OF PARTNER NO. 9

Description of organisation, role in the project and general and specific social context as for example: being in a disadvantaged area, having participants with specific needs (e.g. participants at risk of social exclusion, migrants, refugees).

The 20th Junior High School of Patras is a public school with a comparatively small number of students (about 180) located at a suburb of Patras, Greece. Students attending our school are aged 12-15 mostly from the areas nearby (Perivola and Souli) while there are a number of students who come to school from rural areas and have to be transported by taxi or by bus. There is also a small number of migrants who attend our school mostly from Albania and Romania. Our students have had an active participation in different projects and programs. There have been environmental projects being carried out in our school, projects in cooperation with UNESCO about World Heritage sites and Local Monuments as well. Also we have been very active with e-twinning projects, having worked on 6 different topics, with various schools from Europe. We have got a rather small computer lab (with 12 stations) but about a month ago we installed interactive boards in three of our classrooms trying our best to modernize and improve our teaching methods. I would characterize the environment of our school as friendly and cooperative.

D. PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Please note that this section must be completed jointly by all institutions participating in the Partnership and must be identical in each copy submitted to each National Agency.

D.1. SUMMARY

Summary of the planned partnership in the communication language of the project. This description may be used by the European Commission and/or the National Agency when providing information on selected projects, so please be clear and precise.

Our title is 'Creativity in a Digital World'. The way in which we deliver our education is being influenced by all types multimedia. As a partnership, we wish to embrace this change by sharing and developing the IT knowledge and skills of both our teachers and pupils. We will encourage teachers to integrate multimedia within their lessons, providing motivation through the sharing of good practices in other partner schools. We believe that this in turn will positively affect the attitudes of teachers who are reluctant to use IT in their own teaching. The partnership will also provide motivation to pupils, keeping them engaged with a media that is part of the world that they have been born into. Our vision is to see digital media being used across the curriculum. The project also offers pupils the opportunity to develop their independent creativity through an entrepreneurial task. The outcomes of this project will help teachers understand that the creative use of multimedia technologies can enrich pupils educational experiences. Pupils will be encouraged to produce work in new ways such as film, animation, photography and audio technology (podcasts). The project will enable pupils to communicate on shared tasks with partner schools, developing an awareness and understanding of their wider European heritage. This will be achieved through media such as Skype conferences, digital newsletters, a shared website and pupils visits to partner countries.

D.2. RATIONALE

Please describe the motivation for this project and why this project is needed.

Our project aims to reduce the gap between traditional educational methods and the expectations of pupils from a computer generation. We acknowledge the rapid development of a digital world and the impact on our future lives. In today's digital society it is easy to communicate, send and receive information such as pictures, films and music and often this valued information comes free. Our question is whether our schools reflect these changes and whether we take advantage of our modern digital world? If the answer is yes, how is that achieved and do we explore all the possibilities available to us? We realise that each of our schools are at different stages of development, some further ahead than others. We believe that we all can, and we must, do more. We should know more about education within a digital world.Through the work on the project we will be inspired to gain new knowledge, use new strategies and possibilities to achieve better results. The partnership will encourage and motivate teachers and pupils to be more creative in using multimedia. We believe that our pupils should be given the opportunity to see the world in movement. Our students should be able to raise their eyes from their books, to a screen where the world comes alive and we bring excitement, increased interest and motivation to learn. Pupils are given the chance of working with the information on the screen through interaction which would not otherwise be possible. Digital media enables pupils of all abilities to record their ideas and expressions, using modern technology to be creative in the way they see the world around them and record the lives that they live. We believe we will be able to foster a new attitude towards education and therefore improve pupil's performance. Let us show that communication with people from abroad is easy and so important and one communicative language spoken by all people is necessary. Schools in our Comenius group will have different knowledge , experiences and quality of equipment. The main idea is to spread information about working with multimedia, share the knowledge and the experiences to help thrust us further into our digital world. The delivery of our project includes an entrepreneurial thread. We want to provide opportunities for pupils to use digital media in a setting close to a practical work life.

D.3. PROJECT OBJECTIVES AND STRATEGY

- What are the concrete objectives of the partnership? - Explain what subjects or problems you intend to address. - What approach will you take to achieve your objectives?

Our plan is to show schools alternative ways to conservative teaching, reducing the gap for our computer generation. We want to show our pupils that the internet and computer are more than just Facebook and computer games; that communication can be also about serious topics. We want to give our students the chance to be more creative and able to express themselves in a different ways. We want to show them that knowledge of second language is important. We would like to inspire schools to get better multimedia equipment. Objectives: A) Communication Alternate monthly joint newsletters and Partnership Comenius website. Romanian partner will manage the development of the website which will include project activities. All partners will contribute. This will go live after 1st partner meeting.Regular communication is key. On the 1st partner meeting (Prague October 2011) we will fix a time for regular teacher Skype conferences. B) Partner Meetings 4 a year in one of partner schools. All schools must be represented. The main activity will be the evaluation and digital presentation of current project work. This will include host partner's promotion of their school, created digitally by pupils. Also, continuation of themed story running throughout the project. During the partner meetings we plan that teachers will go to lessons and see the work with interactive white board and other multimedia education in practice. Teachers will share ideas and new practices. C)Pupils Pupils in each school will develop a presentation to promote and advertise their school as if they were an estate agent. UK school will integrate with 'Young Managers' scheme. To be shown at a partner meeting during the project and at the final meeting, Polish pupils will decide on the most effective campaign and which school they would 'buy'. Also, following the themed story, pupils in each school will create a digital chapter to be shown at partner meetings. We will also involve children in communication through Skype. At the 1st meeting in Prague, partner schools will decide on the timings to suit school days. Pupils create animations such as Christmas cards and other similar activities. F) Partner meetings for students. Our students should be able to meet personally partners in partner schools. Dates as shown in the Results and Outcomes. G) Our pupils will work as film directors, actors, writers as part of both the Estate Agent activity and the themed story creation.

D.5. EUROPEAN ADDED VALUE

What is the added value of your project towards a more intensive European cooperation?

We want teachers and children to develop and improve modern foreign languages, (especially English and Spanish). This will be achieved by regular communication, personal meetings and by to visits to partnership schools in Europe. This will be motivation for studying foreign languages. The partnership will develop awareness and understanding of each others´ cultures helping to foster a sense of European unity, while also helping teachers and pupils to respect each others' differences. It will broaden horizons and introduce children to countries they know little about, helping to break down barriers. For children who have few opportunities , it can open up new ambitions. All children and teachers can develop respect for our multicultural communities. Preconceptions of other cultures can be dispelled and all involved in the partnership will experience European friends for themselves. This will be shared with a wider community within partnership schools, informing and building better European awareness. We hope to make friends and build feelings of strong relationships amongst European partner schools by using modern multimedia technology.

D.6. IMPACT

What impact do you expect partnership activities to have on persons (pupils/learners/trainees and staff) and on the participating institutions?

We expect new attitudes to ways of teaching. We want teachers to be excited by seeing new ways of sharing knowledge with children. Both teachers and pupils will use existing IT skills and go on to develop, enhance, and improve these skills. The motivation that the project provides to pupils will improve their performance not only in IT, but within a wider context. For example, building our themed story will improve creativity in writing. We expect that in finding partners we will build long term friends for teachers and pupils which would otherwise not be possible. Also, using language in real life (ouside the class) will provide an exciting ways for pupils to learn and give teachers an different way of teaching. We therefore expect partnership activities to improve modern foreign languages (especially English and Spanish) amongst pupils. Teachers will benefit from visiting other schools and learning about different teaching methods, educational systems and school environments in other countries.

F. PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION

F.1. DISTRIBUTION OF TASKS

Please explain the distribution of tasks between participating institutions and the competences required from each of them. Also explain how you will ensure the active envolvement of all partners in common partnership activities.

All partners have been actively involved in the preparation of the application with each school contributing ideas. Czech Republic and England met in London and worked together to complete the application in consultation with other partner schools via internet communication. There has been great enthusiasm for the project so far, for example the Turkish and Romanian schools are already planning their pupil's visit to the Czech Republic; Czech Republic plan to take children to Turkey, Poland and England; England plan to take children to Spain and Turkey and other schools have provisionally put dates forward for similar visits. This means that all schools are engaged with the project and are taking ownership for the delivery of its aims. All schools were sent the final draft of the application and invited to make suggestions for improvements. We will agree the distribution of tasks between participating institutions and the competencies during the partner meetings for teachers. At each meeting we will plan the work for the next topic and detailed minutes will be taken showing actions and responsibilities of each partner. Each partner must agree the tasks, based on the plans in this application and in accordance with the minutes.

F.2. COOPERATION AND COMMUNICATION

Please explain how effective cooperation and communication between participating institutions will be organised.

Project partnership meetings. Partner meetings for teachers - always represenatatives of all schools take part. Regular communication via E Mail, digital newsletters, website, regular agreed conferences through Skype. Presentation of work at planned partner meetings. Dissemination the project's work to students, teachers and parent during assemblies, school newsletters, school websites. Comenius website and partner project meetings After each project meeting the minutes will provide a permanent record of what each partner has agreed to do. By communicating regularly we can create an atmosphere of a big European family. Members will keep in touch by sharing information.

F.3. PARTICIPANTS' INVOLVEMENT

If your partnership focuses mainly on pupil/learner/trainee involvement, please explain to what extent they will be involved in the planning, implementation and evaluation of project activities.

And/orIf your partnership mainly deals with pedagogical or management issues, please explain how all relevant staff will be actively involved in planning, implementation and evaluation of project activities.

Schools have discussed the project with pupils to build their interest and involvement and to ensure they know what the project is about. There have been opportunities for pupils to give their input into items to include in the project. We encouraged the children to consider how to communicate with our wider world digitally. Three schools in this application were involved in a Comenius project called 'Making Friends through Physical Activity'. Near the end of the project, children began communicate with each other through Skype. This was the inspiration for this new project; we see the digital world as being the way forward for our children and teachers to develop and learn. So far, we have only experienced a tiny part of what multimedia has to offer and we have the desire to explore this means of communication and education further. Children will be key to the success of this project and they will continue to be involved in the ongoing development of the project and will be fully involved with its implementation. Both pupils and teachers will be the working with multimedia in a creative and innovative way; teachers will share and explore new ways of using multimedia; pupils will use multimedia to create stories and manage a mini project in which they promote and sell their own school to partnership schools; both pupils and teachers will communicate digitally via Skype, e mails, websites; relationships will be built not only upon digital communication but also through partner visits which will include teachers and children. UK school will involve School Council in decisions as well as 'Young Managers' to develop and create the promotion of their school. Most of the ongoing evaluation will be done by teachers but pupils will also be asked for their views. They will be able to say what they have enjoyed and what they think they have learned. They can also say what they think would improve the project. We will ask the children whether new techniques of learning have made their experiences in school better.

F.4. INTEGRATION INTO ONGOING ACTIVITIES

If your partnership focuses mainly on pupil/learner involvement, please explain how the project will be integrated into the curriculum/learning activities of the participating pupil/learner/trainee in each of the participating organisations.And/orIf your partnership mainly deals with pedagogical or management issues, please explain how the project will be integrated into the ongoing activities of the participating organisations.

The project will mainly have an impact on the IT curriculum but will also be integrated into Literacy (creative story writing), Citizenship (Entreprenerial task - linking school to the adult workplace), Modern Foreign Languages (ommuication with partner countries), Art and Music (creativity linked to both story writing and Entreprenurial task, filming, audio etc), Geography (pupils learn about new partner countries), Personal, Social, Health and Citizenship Education (appreciation of other cultures).

F.5. EVALUATION

How will you evaluate, during and after the partnership, whether the aims of the partnership have been met and the expected impact has been achieved?

Evaluation during the partner meetings. We will monitor our progress through the life of the project, particularly at project meetings where we can find out to what extent each partner has completed their part of the topic. If each school makes a presentation at project meetings and has contributed newsletters and emails, website information and so on, then we know we are achieving the aims of the project. When we set up visits to partners, then we will be able to see that children are having first hand experiences of other schools and countries. Even if children are not able to travel we expect to see an increasing awareness of partner schools and their cultures. We expect children to develop personal friendships which will broaden their understanding of other cultures. If we use materials in lessons and give assemblies on the project we will know that we are achieving our aims in increasing understanding. We can also measure the improvement in pupils' English and Spanish. The main aim will be to see that project has improved IT skills through the development of teachers knowledge and practice and pupils first hand experience of multimedia technologies. We will evaluate how successful the project is in sharing teacher's different ways of delivering education through multimedia in the classroo. Teachers will spend time in class and observe each other; this will be discussed and evaluated at each partner meeting with new ideas be shared. We will monitor the project using interviews and reports that will be exchanged and evaluated at the end of each school year. Questionnaires will be used for both active participants and teacher and pupils not directly involved in the project to gain an understanding of not only what is going well but ways in which we can improve our project further. Each activity within the project will be useful for self-assessment and will motivate all of the participants. Our project will have been successful if we can say, at the end, that all partners have been in touch regularly and have learned from each other and have a lasting legacy of friendship. We want both teachers' and pupils' experiences of multimedia to be developed and enriched by this project.

F.6. DISSEMINATION AND THE USE OF RESULTS

How will you disseminate and use the results, experiences and, where applicable, products of the partnership? - in the participating organisations? - in the local communities? - in the wider lifelong learning community?

In schools; Lessons, School website, school assembly, parents meeting, in classes, project meetings, staff meetings, displays, Skype, Comenius website, School Magazine In local community: Local newspaper, school website, local education authority, other local schools, local dignataries, Wider community: websites, making information available to National Agencies

G.2. WORK PROGRAMME

Please summarise in the table below the planned Partnership activities and mobilities for all institutions in the Partnership. Please present the activities for the 2-year lifetime of the partnership in a chronological order. The eligibility period of activities starts on 1 August 2011 and ends on 31 July 2013.

Please note that mobility activities can only take place between organisations receiving funding to participate in the Partnership, or to events organised by Lifelong Learning (or predecessor) Programme projects or networks. Mobility can be undertaken by staff and pupils/learners/trainees of the participating institutions and - in the case of mobility involving persons with special needs - accompanying persons such as parents, guardians or carers. What is counted as "a mobility" is one trip abroad by one person. Only transnational mobility (i.e. travel abroad) counts for the calculation of the minimum mobility numbers.

H. REQUESTED EU FUNDING

Funding requested and estimated number of persons participating in mobility (per participating organisation)

For each of the participating organisations, please select the "Partnership type" that best corresponds to your partnership work plan for the whole 2 year duration. Please note that each type is linked to a minimum number of mobilities to be carried out during the grant agreement period – these minimum numbers have to be respected when entering the numbers of planned pupil/learner/trainee and staff mobility into the table. The grant amounts for each Partnership type are defined at national level and they can vary from one country to another. Please make sure that, for each of the participating institutions, you have selected the grant amounts applicable in the country and for the programme in question. Please note: if an institution's mobility activities involve staff or pupils/learners/trainees with special needs, or travel to or from the Overseas Countries and Territories, its mobility activities during the partnership period may be reduced by up to 50% of the minimum mobility number for the grant amount in question, in order to take into account the higher costs involved. This reduction must be requested by the institution either before the signature of the grant agreement or during the grant agreement period and approved by the National Agency.
