COMEBA CUP AND TRAINING CAMP
2019

COMEBA Cup and Training Camp 2019
The COMEBA CUP and Training Camp 2019 is specifically intended to target junior players born in 2001 and later, as well as their coaches. Only the
countries that are COMEBA members are allowed to participate. Kindly note that a maximum number of 42 participants can take part in the
events. Entries will be handled on a “first-come first-served” basis. As there is a limited number of places available, interested parties
are asked to submit their entries as soon as possible.
Dates and Accommodation The participants are to arrive in Cyprus on the 31st of August and to depart
on the 5th of September 2019 in the afternoon/evening. In order to enhance participation, the Cyprus Badminton Federation (CBF) will
be offering all participants free accommodation on a full board basis for five nights; each contingent, from a COMEBA Member Association /
Federation, is to be made up of a maximum of six persons: two male players + two female players + one coach + one team manager.
Any additional day(s) / night(s) accommodation would be at each
participant's expense. The cost for additional nights would amount to €65
(per night) for a Single Room and €100 (per night) for a Double Room. The
overall amount would be payable in cash to a CBF representative on arrival.
ENTRY DEADLINE
The Member Associations, who would like to participate in the COMEBA CUP AND TRAINING
CAMP should send their participation to the COMEBA email [email protected]
and to Cyprus Badminton Federation [email protected]. cy, no later than 14th of July.
Transportation and arrival airports The CBF will provide all internal transport arrangements, including airport
transfers from Larnaca and Paphos airports, at no cost. Please note that Larnaca and Paphos airports are the only legal airports of The Republic of
Cyprus. Flight costs are the responsibility of the participants.
EVENTS The "Mediterranean Cup" will consist of both an Individual as well as a Team tournament. It will feature all five categories (Singles and Doubles);
during its first round, matches will be played in Groups in Singles and not on a Knock-Out basis. Doubles will be on a Knock-out basis from the
preliminary rounds. Each fixture in the Team competition will consist of five games: MS-WS-MD-
WD-MXD; the team competition will similarly be played in Groups during its initial stage.
COACHES Participating coaches will be expected to assist in the training sessions
during the camp.
FIRST AID First aid medical services will be provided for the entire duration of the two
events.
VISA The CBF will provide all the necessary assistance for any visa requirements
of prospective participants to enter Cyprus. Please contact [email protected] for assistance.
TROPHIES Trophies will be awarded to the winners; mementos will be given to all
participants
LIVE STREAMING Live streaming of both events will be available on the CBF website.
FOOD
Accommodation and meals are provided free of charge to all the participants

There are no entry fees for participants.

HEAD COACH
Martijn van Dooremalen [email protected]
Mr Martijn van Dooremalen is a top level, highly experienced and capable Dutch Coach.
He started as a national coach in 1985. From 1999 he combined this position with that
of technical director. He was National Coach for the Netherlands from 1985-2009,
winning 55 medals in European Championships, World Championships, Thomas and
Uber Cup, Olympic Games. He also coached the Europe All Star Team in 2013 and
2014 at Axiata Cup.
He is an Advisor on HP structure and Talent Development, Tutor Coach Education,
Coach Conferences, Practice Camps in several countries (e.g. BEC Summer school,
New Zealand, Peru, Switzerland, Norway, Bulgaria, PanAm Confederation)
HOTELS
There are two hotels for the events. The hotels are across the street from each other and a short
walk from the tournament hall and from the famous “Foinikoudes” beach and promenade, in the
city center. Room assignments will be made by the Cyprus Badminton Federation based on
availability.
FRANGIORGIO HOTEL
Hotel Rooms are of modern design, fully air conditioned. Fully equipped with coffee facilities,
mini bars and bathrooms offering slippers, bathrobes and a variety of satellite channels.
RISE HOTEL
Rise Boutique Hotel, is a new, elegantly furnished hotel, offering affordable luxurious
accommodation. Larnaca Archeological Museum, Pierides Museum, the statue of Zenon, the
famous Agios Lazaros church and its Byzantine museum, Larnaca Medieval Castle and the
statue of Petrakis Kyprianou are literally just around the corner. The old aqueduct of Larnaca
(Kamares), the Salt Lake and the Hala Sultan Tekke Mosque are also recommended sites worth
visiting considering they are easily accessible from the hotel by both bus and taxi.
