Power generators are widely-used as the prime or backup power supply in many applications from remote off-grid

lodges, full time residential homes up to commercial work camps.

In basically all of these applications heat is required as well and usually generated separately with a second

source of fuel like heating oil or propane.


� Internal combustion engines use only 1/3 of the energy content of the fuel to generate kinetic energy.

� 2/3 are unused and thrown away !!

� Therefore emissions and GHG’s from the unused portion are released in the environment without serving any energy purpose.


� CHP stands for Combined Heat & Power. It is also known as Cogeneration.

� CHP is a process to generate heat & power from a single source of fuel at the same time.

� Conventional power generators utilize only 1/3 of the energy content of the fuel to generate electricity. 2/3 are unused waste heat.

� Combined Heat & Power recovers the waste heat from the coolant and the exhaust, which can be used for space- or process heating.


The Egenolf micro-CHP system is designed fordecentralized, stand-alone operation

(isolated operation or better known as off-grid) “Decentralized power generation is a worldwide trend to improve energy security and

energy independence from large, for profit consortiums”


� Stand-alone or off-grid is an autarchy, decentralized way of power generation and distribution with no connection to the power grid.

� Stand-alone systems are more complex.

� Grid-tie is using a central power grid to either extract power from the grid or feed power back into the grid.

� Grid-tied systems don’t operate during power

outages for safety reasons !

At the same time, there is typically a high demand for heat during the seasonal shortfalls as well’



Egenolf micro-CHP’s are currently available in two models:

Kubota D1005 (7.8kWe) Isuzu 3CE1 (12.5kWe)



The Egenolf micro-CHP Controller monitors and manages the electrical load and integrates with other renewable energy sources.

The micro-CHP is controlled

by either demand for power

or demand for heat and

automatically starts/stops

the micro-CHP.

Further it can control additional heating

sources like a BioMass boiler, Solar Collectors or a Heat Pump

The micro-CHP technology is replacing heating fuels. Therefore it is reducing GHG emissions.

During the expected lifetime a Egenolf micro-CHP reduces CO2 emissions by 600,000lbs or 275tons.

Replaces 93,000L of heating oil or 164,000L of Propane during the machines lifetime.

Saves $112,000 for heating oil or $103,000 for Propane.
