In October 2013, a family lost a loved one due to an illness and they were unable to pay for the funeral expenses after almost 30 days of postmortem. The family didn’t know what to do or where to turn as the widow had been left with very little money, the car barely running, the house in foreclosure and three kids to feed. When the HBCHHS learned of the situation they put out an immediate call for help within the school and community and ended up collecting around $1000.00, which paid for the final funeral expenses and groceries. Then shortly thereafter another student lost her mom to cancer and again the HBCHHS was able to collect money to purchase a grocery gift card for the student. In January 2014, catastrophe strikes yet another family when they lost their home and all their belongings in a house fire, leaving them homeless. The HBCHHS made a call out for help and once again the support was instantaneous. However, tragedy does not stop there… a few days later the school learned about another family’s terrible ordeal; whereas a student’s father was shot and killed! The HBCHHS collected funds to purchase each family a $350.00 gift card from Winco. In addition, clothes and furniture were collected and distributed to the family who lost their house in the fire. Thanks to the generosity of the many staff members at Citrus Hill High School and the Hawk Boosters, many families were provided a helping hand when they needed it the most. The HBCHHS plans to continue providing assistance to families during hardships and they will do whatever they can to support the needs of their students’ and community members. A Citrus Hill teacher reminded his colleague about an important scripture people must always remember from the book of Matthew 25:35-36, “For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me” (ESV).

THE HAWK BOOSTERS LENDS A HELPING HAND TO FAMILIES IN NEED

February, 2014—the teachers and staff along with the Hawk Boosters of Citrus Hill High School

(HBCHHS) in Perris, CA help several family’s during terrible hardships over the past several months. In

October 2013, a family lost a loved one due to an illness and they were unable to pay for the funeral

expenses after almost 30 days of postmortem. The family didn’t know what to do or where to turn as the

widow had been left with very little money, the car barely running, the house in foreclosure and three kids

to feed. When the HBCHHS learned of the situation they put out an immediate call for help within the

school and community and ended up collecting around $1000.00, which paid for the final funeral

expenses and groceries. Then shortly thereafter another student lost her mom to cancer and again the

HBCHHS was able to collect money to purchase a grocery gift card for the student. In January 2014,

catastrophe strikes yet another family when they lost their home and all their belongings in a house fire,

leaving them homeless. The HBCHHS made a call out for help and once again the support was

instantaneous. However, tragedy does not stop there… a few days later the school learned about another

family’s terrible ordeal; whereas a student’s father was shot and killed! The HBCHHS collected funds to

purchase each family a $350.00 gift card from Winco. In addition, clothes and furniture were collected

and distributed to the family who lost their house in the fire. Thanks to the generosity of the many staff

members at Citrus Hill High School and the Hawk Boosters, many families were provided a helping hand

when they needed it the most. The HBCHHS plans to continue providing assistance to families during

hardships and they will do whatever they can to support the needs of their students’ and community

members. A Citrus Hill teacher reminded his colleague about an important scripture people must always

remember from the book of Matthew 25:35-36, “For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty

and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was

sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me” (ESV).
