Lindsey Wilson vs. Pikeville Lindsey Wilson Sports Information (270) 384-8071

Women’s Basketball NotesScouting PikevilleThe Bears have won just two games this seaon, both against Al-ice Lloyd College. Against MSC competition Pikeville has lost by 20 points to Georgetown and eight to Shawnee State, both games at home. The Bears lost by 27 points on Thursday at the University of the Cumberlands.

Pikeville is averaging 63.5 points per game and is shooting 40.0 percent from the fi eld and 27.3 percent from behind the arc.

The Bears do rebound well, ranking 24th in the NAIA in defensive rebounds per game with 27.5.

Bear to WatchBrogan Conley has played and started in all eight games this season for Pikeville, averaging 13.8 points and 5.6 rebounds per contest. Conley leads the team with nine 3-pointers this season, where she is shooting 34.6 percent.

Hold On To That Ball! The Blue Raiders are 4-1 when they commit 20 or fewer turnovers this season, but once they pass that mark they are 1-2. Turnovers have been the biggest issue in the young season, committing as many as 24 in the loss to Lee University and win against Wilber-force.

Wethington at No. 4 in All-Time Wins ListAmong active coaches in NAIA women’s basketball, Lindsey Wil-son’s John B. Wethington -- in his 23rd season with the Blue Raid-ers -- is currently fourth on the all-time list with 428 wins. The NAIA released the list on Wednesday and not including this season, Wethington is fi fth, but with a 4-3 start he has already moved up one spot. Shawnee State’s Robin Hagen-Smith topped the list with 590 wins in 23 seasons.

Lindsey Wilson Picks Up Win No. 450Sophomore Jasmine Brimm poured in 21 points and nine rebounds and freshman Monny Niamke tallied 18 points and 10 assists to help the Blue Raiders knock off Tennessee Temple 86-54 on Nov. 5. The win was the 450th in program history at Lindsey Wilson.

Blue Raiders Start Season Ranked 14th in PollLindsey Wilson is starting out the season with one of its highest preseason ratings ever in the NAIA Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Top-25 Poll. In archived polls available by the NAIA, the Blue Raid-ers have been no higher than No. 17 through the past seven sea-sons. The Mid-South Conference as a whole is well represented in the poll with Shawnee State (Ohio) University leading the way at No.4, Campbellsville (Ky.) University is No. 8 and University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) and Georgetown (Ky.) College are receiving votes.

Seven Ranked Opponents According to Early RatingsThe Mid-South Conference strength combined with many ranked teams throughout the Central part of the nation has allowed the Blue Raiders to put together an incredibly tought slate of game this season. As far as the preseason ratings, Lindsey Wilson has seven ranked teams on its schedule and four games scheduled against teams recieiving votes in the poll. The toughest back-to-back games of the season could be on Dec. 9 and 10 when the Blue Raiders face sixth ranked Bethel (Tenn.) University and top ranked Azusa Pacifi c (Calif.) University.

Three Countries and Seven States on 2011-12 RosterWith Monny Niamke from Rouen, France and Laura Skudra from Riga, Latvia the Blue Raiders already have a diverse crowd on their roster, but you can also add in seven difference states this season. Apart from the two foreign players, Lindsey Wilson also features American players from Kentucky, Ohio, Florida, Tennessee, Arizona, Illinois and Michigan.
