Terms: Hue: Property that give
the color it’s name. Color wheel – 12 colors &
3 Categories Primary: Red, yellow &
blue ( foundation colors ) Secondary: Orange,
Green, Purple Tertiary or
Intermediate: Red-orange Yellow-green Blue-purple
Value:
A measurement of the amount of light reflected from a colored object. Shade – add black Tint - add white Tone - add white
& black = gray
Psychological Effects:
Warm Colors: Red, Orange, Yellow (happy feelings)
Cool Colors: Blue, Green, Purple ( peaceful, soothing)
Individual Colors
White – Elegance, Sophistication, Protection
Red – Strength, Dominance, Love
Pink – Femininity, Love, Happiness, Self- Love, Good Friends
Orange – Halloween, Self – worth, self-esteem, success
Yellow – Cheerful, Friendship, protectiveness, Digestion, nerves, Mental Awareness
Individual Colors Green – Fertility,
Wealth, Creative, Health, Restful
Blue – Peace, Calm, Tranquility, Depression
