The big picture behind it all Slavery was one of the worst time periods to happen

in this world and everyone's story should be heard. The Color Purple was being told from a 14 year old

girl who had no choice but to grow up fast and hope to set free. Celie lost all of her family through death or lost connection.

Beloved was another story that people were getting abused and had the only hope that it would eventually end

Sethes’ child “Beloved” became this spirit that only was evil and people only hoped that Beloved would stop haunting them.

In both stories it is shown that both people had a terrible family life growing up into slavery, but the main point that stood out to me was that they made something of themselves no matter how hard they had it.“Never give up, for that is just the

place and time that the tide will turn”-Harriet Beecher Stowe
