Very Long Ago

• Colonial times were very long ago.

• Colonial people were the first people from Europe to live in America.

• Europe is a far away country. (look at globe)

• The colonial times were in the years 1607-1776. It is the year 2009 now. So it was over 300 years ago.

How did they live?

• When the first settled in America they didn’t know how to live in the wilderness.

• They lived in tents and had very little food to eat.

• They were very cold and hungry in the winter.• Then they built houses made of wood and had fires to keep warm

and cook food.

What did they wear?

• Their clothes were very different from what we wear today. Look at some of these pictures. Do you dress likes this?
